Thank you, I'm really nuts about her. She is a 3 year old, I'm thinking we can maybe get that tummy of her's trimmed down with a little longeing....lol. Altho winters are so cold and nasty here, so maybe it's a good thing she's a little tubby, lol!

Funny you should notice that my friend was nervous....she is VERY afraid of horses....I told her she didn't have to walk out into the pasture with me, she could wait by the gate.....but I was surprised when she said that was OK and went out into the pasture with me....she is scared to death of horses, so I told her to just stay by me and I could keep the horses back if they came near us (but only a few were curious enough to do so), there are only 7 horses out with Koko and all are well-behaved, and if any horses got too close I would shoo them away I told her....lol. I was very surprised she even wanted to go up and pet and feed Koko that closely, but she did, she really did good, I was proud of her!

Great shots of you and your little girl.. She is pretty. Is she a Red Roan? I have a 4 yr old Red Roan, (so I was told he was a Red Roan)but he is lighter. Can the color be lighter or darker and still be a Red Roan?

Yes, the color can vary between horses and even between seasons on the same horse.

LOL....cowgirldude....my other horses I had in the past were pretty chunky too...so I know what you mean, Kara was an easy-keeper and looked like she was going to pop out triplets!

Yes, I plan to do her training myself, unless I have a few glitches, then I may seek some help, but only as long as they're gentle with her, and it would only be to help me get over any training bumps I may have....maybe when it comes time to start her under-saddle training, I may have someone around to assist me, but I'll see how it goes. When I trained Kara she was so incredibly quiet, Kara never once pulled anything and instantly did everything I asked of her, she never spooked and never tried anything, so she got me very spoiled! lol.

Yes, red roans can really vary in shade/color quite a lot, some are more dark, and some are so pale they are almost silvery, and they do often change with the seasons. But they don't change color with age....or at least that is what I have read in my equine color genetics books that I have.

Funny - I was also going to say the same thing! All four of mine look they've never missed a meal... but my little girl, well she's downright tubby - we call her Chunky Monkey. The comment about Kara popping made me giggle, Lele is half Arab (as was my past mare with the same belly) - is it common with the breed?

Sedona.....seems like almost every Arabian I've ever known were very easy keepers, and had a tendency to get fat easily. But, then, at the time when Kara got especially fat, the barn owner was feeding pure alfalfa and a ton of grain to the pasture horses, free choice.....and I'd never have done that. I like to feed timothy or some kind of grass hay, and just minimal grain (depending on the horse's needs).
