Ok, who of us is currently engaged!? I know there are enough of us to form a small tribe...lets gather :) I'm only about two days into this and I don't even know what to do at this point! Here are some things we need to talk about!
First...engagement story?
Second...how far along are you with wedding plans? Have you picked out a location? Sent invitations? Taken engagement photos? Share!
Third...what kind of wedding are you imagining?
Fourth...pics of you and your fiance?
People who are not engaged or people who are already married...feel free to chime in and share ideas, stories and photos too!!

well me and my man, mike, have been engaged for 2 years, we just call each other husband and wife to simplify things. we are just waiting to get the money to afford a nice wedding. if it was up to me we would be in reno and married in no time but my cousin did that and my family flipped out on her so i have to do the nice wedding thing. lol and mikes family is the same way.
we just want a simple out door wedding with a small group of close friends and family. but once mikes aunt gets a hold of the wedding that will change(and she will if mikes family helps out at all with money).

I already have a question though.
As far as informing EVERYONE I know that I am now engaged...what would be the best possible route. Just an informal e-announcement or do I not even need to do that? Is a "Save the Date" the only engagement announcement I need?

I didn't do those "save the dates" for my wedding, but I think they are adorable. I like the ones that have a magnet that pop out that you can just put on your fridge so you remember.

I second the Reno trip! LOL. I'm not currently engaged, it has been talked about often & I'm hopeful for the year to come! hee hee.
The knot website I heard nothing but good from.
I also second the fact that those little save the date magnets are cool! I got about 3 of them on my frig now for this up coming year.

Lets see, he proposed on October 11 of this year...he did it by the horses...The wedding is about 2 years away...June 18, 2011, to be exact:D...I am having a western theme wedding and I am wearing white Ariat's!!! I will not budge on that one:D I wanted to ride my horse down the aisle, but that is too much to worry about on top of anything else. Pic: Let me find some!

I created a group for us! We can share all of our ideas!

Can I join the group even though I'm already married? I love weddings!
Instead of favors at the wedding, we donated a large sum of money (what would have been spent on favors) to the Make A Wish Foundation of Wisconsin. The MAWF even made up little note cards with the flowers from my wedding printed on them that said what we donated to, etc. It was really special.

Wow loves that's a great idea for your favors!

Thanks! We just figured that most of the favors we get from wedding we don't really use or keep, so we didn't want to waste the money.
We also set up a bowl and a saying (can't remember now - I would have to look it up) at the reception that people could write their advice and well wishes for us and put in the bowl. Then we got to look at them all later and we still have them. It's nice to look through and read what everyone wrote. :)

a friend did that at her wedding and about 5 people wrote down that it was not to late, run. lol they all did it as a joke but it was funny reading them later.

Will (2ndtoLeggy) and I've been engaged a year and a half (June 5, 2007).
Engagement story: Will and I had been dating two years, my roommate from freshman year of college (aka: Dandy21) was down visiting, and we went to Nana and Papa's to see the horses. She was incharge of making sure I was where I was supposed to be, when I was supposed to be there. Will volunteers to go out and call the horses down for us, so I don't have to walk a thousand miles in the heat trying to find them, really sweet - right? Right. So we wait at the house for a few minutes, then head out after him. I go up and say hi to Leggy, then move on to check everyone else over and say hi... then go back to the love of my life (Legacy, duh :p), and Will hands me a red (my favorite color) piece of paper.
On it he had re-written my favorite poem, into a proposal. I finished reading it and he was down on one knee (I only remember that because I remember thinking that Legacy was going to step on his leg for the fun of it ) with my ring. :)
Apparently Will had wanted to tie the poem into Legacy's mane... but Leggy was not being helpful, because he was very concerned over why Will was there and I was not - and his search for me made tying anything in his mane difficult.
----
Where are we with planning? Well... that's a bit of a story. I'm a bit of a procrastinator (a bit - haha), and I honestly didn't think that there would be a guy who could deal with me on a regular basis. So I never, even as a first-grader, started those 'wedding plans' that every other girl on the face of the earth has.
I originally wanted to have the wedding in my Nana and Papa's pasture (where Will proposed), with Legacy as the ring bearer (Will's niece could lead him down the aisle) and have a pot-luck reception afterwards. Pot-luck with my family is amazing, because my family is full of amazing cooks. :D Unfortunately, my family didn't like my super-dooper-cheap-o idea, so...
We picked out an absolutely gorgeous spot, the perfect place to get married June 5, 2009 (outdoor wedding, horsedrawn carriage, place for his all-over-the-nation-family to stay in one huge lodge and everything), I was picking out save the date cards and getting all excited... but my Dad did the whole no-job-for-almost-a-year thing, and my parents are still kinda playing the no-money game, but they still don't want me to have my pasture-wedding, and we certainly don't have the cash for the perfect wedding... so we put it off a year.
So, the date, as of now, is June 5, 2010. :D It actually works out better this way (loser talk, right? :D), because we won't have to pay rent/live/drive in Atlanta for long (living in Atlanta is going to be a big deal for me... I don't do cities, I get inside the perimeter and start hacking up a lung), since he goes to Tech. He'll also be nearly-graduated (hopefully just a semester left), and I'll still have health insurance that I don't have to pay for, for another year anyway.
What kind of wedding am I imagining? I don't really know. I don't like planning, and I don't want to be let down - so I'm just going to take it like it is and enjoy every second of it. :cowboy: I'd really like my super-cheapo wedding but, oh well.
I'll post new pictures after Christmas, my Nana has a great picture of us from my birthday that I'll scan. But, this is from his cousin's wedding this past summer (that dress was a stretch for someone who rarely wears anything lower than a normal straight-across tank-top or shorter than blue jeans - I knew I was going to fall out... but I didn't :D):

This is my favorite picture of us... we both look like crap (I'm thinking it was early on a Saturday morning), but I think it should go in our wedding announcements (Will is opposed). :p

This is my favorite video of us (http://good-times.webshots.com/video/3050732650033485505YJOZNf)- curtosy of Will's Dad (Will cuts them into points if I don't :p).

Well I've been married going on four years now but we had a small church wedding, family only except my friend who did my hair. Hubs proposed after a bareback ride on my gelding Knight, we were headed back to the house ( still riding ) and he pulled the horse up ( I was riding up front ) and pulled out a pack of cigs( yes I know....) and said can you get me one? So I looked down to give him one, and my engagement ring was on top of them, and he said "Will you marry me?". It was very sweet, we knew we were getting married, ( i was already preg.) but it was still a surprise as to when he would do it.
