Any one besides my self , snow blow or snow throw snow out of corrals or pastures ?
Today I got the snow blower out and did the corral.

This x-mas weekend I'll be out into the pasture , and create a path system for my riding as well as lunging.
Hope it isn't to icy under the snow pack......

Anyone else do this ? :cowboy:

We don't, but we don't do any riding in the winter, etc.

Great idea. For the last two years my hubby cleared out the roundpen and then sprinkled salt down. It was useable all winter. Couldn't do that for a large area but worked for the track in the round pen.

We used to do that for the dog! :) He was a small dog so my dad used to snowblow an area for him in the front yard.

There is a lot of ice under our snow so no we don't. I do ride in the winter but I stay on the gravel road, not the pasture. The corral does get rather deep sometimes but we have never cleared it.

That's a good idea... but that would take a million snow blowers here in Canada for our pastures lol. :(
But there's no need to blow out the indoor :) hahaha

No snowblowers here; although I gotta say that is pretty creative for small areas:cowboy:

I have never moved snow unless I couldn't get the barn door open or couldnt get out the drive:cowboy:

During The Big Storm of '76-'77 when the Ohio National Guard had to dig us out, I fired up the back hoe to not only clean out our driveway and our elderly neighbor's driveway, but to dig a path from the back of the barn to the front and around the water tub.

The tub was froze solid and I had to carry big buckets of hot water to the horses ---- in the front loader.

I still have a front loader but I am now retired to southern Middle Tennessee and better never need it, or anything else more powerful than a shovel, to push snow around:cowboy:

Yes.. my barn owner plows his ring and the pastures if needed. he even uses salt in the ring to melt the ice. He shows all year round so he rides nearly everyday. I love the fact that the ring is plowed so we can ride.

My great idea , I've been doing for some years back fired on me this x-mas weekend.
I did the snowblowing and made just a dandy exercise path with loops and all , and a nice lunge circle.
Lunged my horse , and the next day I was to ride - it rained.
Yep rained in northern Wisc. = YUK

Well it froze that nite , and the nice snow base , became ice , so no lunging or riding until some serious snows come.
A nice puddle - froze pond in the middle of the pasture

We had the same thing happen after our first heavy snow... an ice layer on top... made it darned uncomfortable for the horses to walk around in... they've been sticking to their well established broken in paths ever since, waiting for this stuff to melt!
