So I hear about a trail ride, they are sponsoring some medical thing, free ride at a Saddle Club.
Anyway, I call for info, find its close by, and ask THE question, are you checking coggins? I get a no, we dont have the people to go around and check each horse for that. So I say, dont you have a check in, she says ya, but we dont have someone to go check the horses.
I say, well, I cant put my horse in that kind of a situation. She says, well all the club members horses have coggins draw every yr, we have a group blood draw. Whopty do, so does my club, but not everyone has it done at the club, I have my vet do it. I tell her, well not everyone is going to be a club member, some will be like me, from outside the club.
You know what she says. Well, I guess you'll just not be able to come then, kinda snippy, not to bad, but you can hear tone. We hang up.
Come on folks, if your gonna have a ride, get your stuff together before hand.
Do not put other peoples horses in jeopardy, and have a check in staff for correct paperwork.
My vent for today...lol

Well, it all sound foreign to me, we don't have Coggins testing at all here, as you know.

But I guess where it is required, they should at least put on a show of checking.

Every show/ride/event here always says that you have to have a negative coggins. However I have never had anyone check my coggins except at Poplar Place.

I'm with WB......coggins and such aren't required, nor a common thing to have.

Nothing is required at our local shows, gymkhanas or trail rides.

BUT.....

If I ran a barn, I'd required everyone to be UTD.

hypocritical much? i think!
