well, today wasn't great. I had some troubles with Berma when trotting. She was balking (thanks caitling, lol) and having a little attitude, but I stayed on, and rode her through it. Now, I am going to switch her bit, I don't think this western one is working great with us both. I know what I did wrong, but if you have anything to add critique wise, you can go ahead, but be gentle ;) still a beginner. I know my kneck rieghning skills need improvment! and I lean forward too much, and all, you can see that in the vid. I did get some cantering (which was like flying) but I was kinda scared because she was throwing her head down at the canter, and doing little bucks, so I tried to just keep her at the trot. She is so fast! I think she just needs work, she is used to just walking, because she was a trail horse, so I she may be a little rusty. Ok, well, on to the pictures and vid. I know I recently posted a vid, but I wanted to show you how we are doing, since this one is more recent.

Looks like you were having fun! The biggest thing I saw at a glance that might help you is to lower your rein hand- you'll have much better control. Other than that, I think you're doing great!

Where's your helmet? ;)
Otherwise you two look great together! Do you have a saddle or do you always ride her bareback?

Well I have already talked to you, lol, but I would say switch to a snaffle and I think you do better without neck reining. Shanked bits aren't meant for direct contact, but snaffles are - so I think that would work well for the both of you. I already critiqued you, but you are already showing so much improvement! I think Berma is the perfect horse for you. It's really beautiful at your horse, I'm jealous! =P

Well, yeah, I really should wear a helmet, buut somtimes I just sorta...don't, I know I should have learned by now! I have a saddle that might fit her, but I really just want to ride her bareback for now. Lower the riegn hand, got it :) thanks!
Thanks, caitlin, lol, the trees are pretty. And yeah, gonna change that bit. Thanks for all your imput!

you can neck rein just fine in a snaffle and I think that is what YOU need more then her probably ...

BTW that bit she has in is JUNK as in I own't allow one on my property!!

She came with that bit, the owner rode her in it, so I thought since she was used to it, and listened to it, then it would be ok, but I agree im not a fan of it.

You really are making progress, Torie.:) I won't critic you, but I will say good job staying on when she was doing her nice little hoppy bucks!

It must have been warm there too, huh? It actually got kind of hot here today, which it hasn't done in quite a while. I rode Beauty bareback in shorts and barefoot, lol.:innocent: Good times!:p

Well I remember what you have been through on a horse so to me right now I'm loving what I am seeing. Sure there could be things that later can be fixed, but right now you look great having fun. As for the bit "why fix it, if it ain't broken?"

Hi there! I don't know the history, so I'll just give a quick opinion on what I see. For starters, I think that the dog running around by her legs while your riding her could be what's getting her more hyped up. I do think that most horses have more energy this time of year due to the change in seasons. I definitely agree with the others about the bit. Try to ride more with your seat and legs then your hands. Overall good job and you rode well through her little bucks!

TBgirl- yeah, it does look like it could have been the dog, but it wasn't, she was doing it, even when the dog wasn't there. She is used to little creatures running around here, lol
IT was fun, lol, spet for the bucks, it was awsome =)

Good job sitting her crow hopping. I think you two look good together. Just keep at it and you two will be like two peas in a pod soon.
