My three year old walker started developing hard little bumps on his back last summer.
There was a cluster of three, four that appeared, right under where the saddle ends. He's not sensitive to them and that cluster did shrink a little. They are the size of a pea or small lima bean. I hadn't put a fly sheet on him so I thought maybe it was an allergy to bugs (northern bugs, he's from Tennessee!). A month later some more appeared on either side of the girth area. Again, I hadn't put a fly sheet on but I thought maybe it was an allergy to my cinch, which was neoprene. I switched to felt, and he got more a month later, on the other side.
Last week he got a new one on his back, and he hasn't been ridden in a month. I finally called the vet and she injected him with Vetalog. If that doesn't work in two weeks she's trying Indian Mud. She hates to biopsy him because she'd have to cut in areas the girth and saddle hit. You can grab them and move them around. Someday (?) riding weather will again happen in NY and I'd like these things gone. They are covered with hair (no hair loss) and he's not sensitive to them but I don't like where they are. Any ideas on what this is or how to deal with it? Thanks!
