he's a cute lil guy:) he does look a little posty in his back legs, though.

What a cutie! I love his markings too.

I agree, his back legs look a bit posty, and I think he's a bit cut out behind the knee.

I can't wait to see what he looks like all growed up!

He's a cutie.
Looks to have a decent hoof size for his body, his pastern angle matches his shoulder angle like it should, I agree the back legs do look to be a bit posty, front legs look nice and straight to my eyes.

I like the length of back to the rest of the body and though his croup is a tad steep, but that will most likely look a bit different as he muscles that up as he matures.

His shoulder is a steeper than I like to see, which could cause a bit of a jarring trot, but I do like his neck and how it ties in. Seems to be a good length in relation to the rest of his body and lends an overall balance. It should muscle up a bit as he matures and is worked under saddle.

What do you plan on using him for?

Cute... but he still looks juvenile. He hasn't got his man body yet. He's actually rather lightly built for a Paint.

How old is he? Is this the stud you are showing this year? The things I see now looong pasterns, shallow heartgirth, shoulder is a little steep, hip is too far forward, and his croup has too much slope to it. His rear legs are post legged from what I can tell

Just a disclaimer: These aren't the greatest photos to judge conformation on so my information to you could be wrong. For instance in two of the photos I have a different opinion on his hip! So take all that with a grain of salt. :D

Thanks everyone! I call him "Stetson" He's a gelding, and for good reason. I broke him originally intact and I tell you I would have had him gelded invetro if possible. Right now he is learning some low level dressage and some HUS stuff. He's quite the little man, very brave and he tries hard. He's not the sharpest tool in the shed, but he's lots of fun to work with. He stands about 14.1 or so and I don't expect him to grow a whole lot more.

hip is too far forward
I'm trying to learn from reading all of these... but what does this mean? I'm trying to see it in the picture but I don't know what I'm looking for...

I think she means he has a weak hip. I'm not sure exactly what "too far forward" means myself.

You know... when I first read the thread, I thought it said he was still a stallion. That's why I said he didn't have a "man body" yet, because he doesn't; no sign of testosterone in his face, neck and body.;) But I just read wrong, need glasses, there it is, it says gelding :)

He is rather lightly built for a paint, but that may be feature not a fault depending on what you like.

I really don't like how his neck is set onto his shoulder on this picture. It's also too short and straight for my liking. I think I know what you mean by post legged in behind, but not sure. I like the way his pasterns are angled. From the other picture I think his hind legs look pretty good. Somehow the picture of his right side looks better than the one of his left. Though from this picture he does look a little more croup high than the one of his other side.

He looks pretty. I love palomino paints. :)

I think he's just taking his time. He's a little smaller than I would think he'd be at 3.

His mother is here www.notjusthorses.com her name is Running Dial and his father is here www.bedonna.com and he is Fancy King Goldmaker.

Small or not, he's a heck of a guy!
