So I'm trading my fly sheet for some hoods over the internet. Not exactly sure how that works.... Do I wait until I have the hoods then send it out or do we both send it at the same time? Or do I sent the sheet and then she sends the hoods? Do we do tracking numbers? Help me out here, lol.

It's mostly a good faith thing. There is no guarentee that either of you will send your item. I know I've swapped with several members on here/h.com and I was just carful about who I swapped with. Only chose true forum members that had been active. We always just sent stuff around the same time. Might be a day or so difference in shipping just due to schedules. I always do tracking numbers just to be polite, because I know I always appreciate them.
But mostly it's just a leap of faith to send your items and hope you get something in return!

Yup, that confo number was a big thing for me in trading. I had a great time doing it too.
I traded at horse.com and horsecity.com

I have traded and sold things to several forum members, only one didn't go so well. Someone listed stuff on the horse.com forum. I was trading a show jacket and paying for the rest. I kept waiting for her to send it(since she wasn't a very active memeber I was little iffy). She said she was headed to the PO that day and would send a tracking number, etc...so of went ahead a sent the stuff. Ended up loosing about $100. She also did it to one other person on the forum :( It stinks but usually everything goes well. You can usually tell if it is an honest person, etc. I had my doubts about the lady but I didn't listen and sent the stuff anyway.

With everyone else I traded with we just sent the stuff around the same time and it all worked out :)

Sure hope you put that persons name out that ripped ya off. Makes it known for the other traders NOT to trade with that person.

I traded a saddle for a saddle on the old forum. We each paid for our own saddles to be shipped and we each had tracking and if I remember right, insurance also. It was a perfect transaction, no problems. When I can't send paypal, the person waits for the check/MO to be sent, then they send the item. One item I sold was lost by the PO and even though I had tracking and it said where the item was, they determined it was lost and I had to refund the money and lost the item.

I guess it's all a gamble.
