Play day with vhl,appylover,miatapony, and gaited

Today Vegashorselady, Appylover, Miatapony and myself had a play date with our horses.

Our goal today was to torture our horses with obstacles that we expect at the mounted patrol competition in March.

We had a hoof wash, bridge, moon walk (mattress), car wash, big soccer ball, scary things on ropes, tarps, sheets, noodles, hula hoops (VHL will have to explain!!!)
The horses did really well today with all the goodies we had for them.

After our training session, we did a short ride around VHL's wide open area.

Wow...great pics Gaited.....I love doing those play days...of course I have only done them on the ground with Dallas, getting ready to start in the saddle. He does great with everything but the curtain! :eek:

It was a great day. Meeting new friends and having fun in the sun........ speaking of, can you say, SUNSCREEN!!!!! not to mention a hat.:cool:

We had bailing twine tied to the pool noodles and hula hoops so we could swing them around and drag them on the ground while riding. The hula hoops rattle and kind of sound like a snake so that was the idea behind that.

Oh yeah, and you said in an earlier post that Dallas doesn't like carwashes...you should have seen my mare after we went through it the second time. As soon as we were through it she bolted and threw in a couple of hops just to make sure I knew she didn't want to do that again, lol! To bad we didn't catch that on video.

Yes he did awesome with all the obstacles but "wow" was he wired for full speed on the trail.
I guess everyone is entitled to an off the frickin hook day! I'm bad too, I did not work him out that morning. It was just saddle and go (I"m bad!!)

I'm planning on building a few things today. Have to wait til the family wakes up to go to home depot for my shopping spree. (Poor husband, God bless him!)

You guys need sunscreen and if I step outside for more than a few minutes unprotected I risk FROSTBITE...-14 degrees last night not counting the windchill!!!

This is the ONLY time of year that Las Vegas (for me) is worth living in. The rest of the time it is WAY to hot (125+) and then as soon as fall/winter hits it gets cold (30s), may not seem that cold but going almost over night from the hundreds, well its cold. Winter/spring (60s) is the best, but we only have about a 3 month window before we have to start hiding from the sun, or heading for the mountains. lol.

But really there is plenty of room so anyone coming into town let us know so we can hook up for a ride.

Ah come on Appy, when it gets hot that's when it's time for midnight rides by moonlight. During the full moon you can ride from dusk until dawn, it's a blast!
