We used to go every year. We aren't going to be able to tomorrow though. We have the same plans as Carla. Big family get together. Hope you have fun and don't drink too much cider.:)

It was fun. I bought a bunch of Christmas presents and I bought myself a new leather belt with horses on it.

Yeah, really thick leather. Not like what you get at wallie world. And it was made in the good ol' US of A.

I saw a booth where they had all kinds of bread. I didn't get any tho. I already had a handful of stuff to carry around.

Well, maybe next time we should consider fully utilizing our new "really thick, non-wallie-worldish leather" belt and pack out some of our baggage, so that we can get one teensy tiny loaf of bread for our forum friends who are waiting patiently at home for it.

All kidding aside, I'm glad you had fun! And glad you got a nice belt, too. Those are hard to come by, for my hubby anyway.

*gasp* What's Gold Rush? *gasp* :D

Gold Rush is Dahlonega's (a GR site (http://www.dahlonegajaycees.com/)) celebration about the gold rush (Dahlonega is home to the first gold rush in the US). Here's the town's website (http://www.dahlonega.org/index.php/festivals/gold-rush-days.html). There's approximately a ton of art vendors (my favorite photographer, Robert Jones, is always there - 3 of the small prints for $30 ;), there's also the local guy who does chainsaw wood carving... and everything inbetween). We go on Saturday for the parade because we know nearly everyone in it, and it's absolutely hilarious (if you show up and get in line, you're in the parade).

They close down the town (my mom works at a local bank and they have a sign up saying that they're "Closed in Observance of Gold Rush" which I find hilarious :D). It's lots of fun! There's arm wrestling competitions (my Mom's best friend was champion a few times, one of her friend's sisters has been too). There's tons of traffic, but parking and admission is free (if you can find the free parking - the boy scouts charge you $3 to park at J&Js, but Wally World, just down the road, is free). The Fudge Factory also gives out free samples (I hit them up several times :D). There's also a whole section devoted to little kids.

AND it happens to always be the weekend of or the weekend nearest my birthday. This year my birthday happens to be on Saturday (the 18th), so we're going to party-hardy in town all day!

You're just jealous that you can't celebrate in small-town fun. :p

You're right. You got me- jealous.

*sigh*

Oh well. Looks like I'll be stuck here with myself and I and my own self-entertaining antics. I like to call mine, "small-mind fun."
