View Full Version : Baywind Farm - A Poem

Baywind Farm is our new home
From our old forum we did roam
It crashed on us a time or two
And left us all just really blue
The WB's offered to share
Their help to fix the old software
But they got turned down flat, you see
They got told to leave things be
So they just said "Well what the hay!"
Lets make our own, starting today
A new forum they did create
It was a day to celebrate
They brought back edit and delete
and gave us all a place to meet
So here we are at Baywind Farm
Where things are working like a charm
Where forum friends can meet again
Never to be lost again
So thank you WBay and Boy
For giving all our hearts such joy
May Baywind Farm itself someday
Be as real as this forum is today

Thanks! Kind of funny- I was just sitting here going through the forum, and the first lines came to me- had to think a bit to get the rest right.
Wierd, because I'm usually lousy at poems!

Thanks, everyone! Too bad I couldn't have done a decent one when I was in school and being graded on it! Of course, maybe it was because then I was under pressure- this time, I figured it would either come out right, or I could always delete it if it didn't, he,he! No one would have been the wiser!

You're welcome, WB! This forum really means a lot to me. Horse.com was the first forum I joined, and I have made many friends there. When the forum went down, I had another place to go, but it just isn't the same as my forum family here. We're a lot more close knit.

Laugh! I think it would have passed on most a professor's watch - great poem!

:nono: Oh no - you can't go throwing out those words that bring scary memories of MEAN teachers, without showing us an example of each! I got Haiku but for the life of me I can't remember the iambic pentameter...
Gypsy - that was a beautiful poem, how nice of you to take the time!

Remember a fella named Shakespere?? He not only wrote poetry in iambic pentameter but plays as well! There is your culture & history lesson all rolled into one for the night!:p

Agreed! Examples are only fair!

Sedona, it was really different how it came about- like I said earlier, normally things like that don't come easily- I had the first few lines down in about 5 minutes, and the whole thing in under half an hour.
I don't know what I was reading here on the forum at the time, but I got up to get something to eat, and the first lines hit me.
Enjoy, everyone. I don't know if I'll ever be able to do something like this again. Maybe it was because it's from the heart- who knows!
Thanks to everyone for the compliments!:)

Now I know why I didn't remember, lol!:p Back at ya!:D
That's the funny thing. I'm not usually into poetry and prose and all that stuff.
Maybe it's the classics I'm not into, who knows? I'm not a big fan of classical music for instance. Give me good 'ole Classic Rock any day.
Guess I'm just too modern thinking, lol!

Never ever mix metaphors, haikus & iambic pentameters with whiskey. The results can be catasrtrophic!!:nono:
