Here's the full story from over there: This Concerns Our Friend Dash (http://forum.horse.com/tm.asp?m=803706) (DashMyBoy!)
Note from Ms Eddi:
Dash's house caught fire and she is without many of her belongings and the house is uninhabitable. If you can go to horse.com go and read about it. I would like to start a fund for her and posted all about it but your forum never works right for me. She and the pups made it out safely and El is with her right now. I've asked El to email or call me as soon as she can with where I can send some money. Could you post this and have anyone interested maybe email me, it says you'll have mine with this message. if not it's eddialmlie@hotmail.com
As she says, if you would like to help out, please contact Ms Eddi, either there or here. Hopefully she will pass along more news and information soon.
Thanks for posting this. Poor Dash! I've emailed MsEddi.

The other thread seemed to indicate that it is still unknown the shape of everything. I feel horrible for them and will keep watching this thread and the other one for news on what we can do to help!!!

How awful for poor Dash! I'm glad she and the dogs made it out okay! She'll definitely be in my thoughts.

Something to keep in mind... Since it sounds like she's insured (we'll have to find out on that for sure) the donations needed might be for immediate, short term expenses till that comes through... Place to stay, meals eaten out or 'to go' instead of being able to cook at home... Unexpected supplies and materials to start to get the place cleaned up, and protected from theft and/or weather.
Those expenses add up quick.

It's horrable news, I send and email as I'm not that far away so if there is anything I can do.
We are getting major snow today so I'm sure that's not helping or making clean up easy :(

I feel so bad about the house and her belongings. I am happy she got out and the dogs got out. The lives are what can't be replaced, everything else can. Hope she's OK.

Dash called and left a message on my machine that she and the dogs are fine and that she doesn't need anything. But EL said she'll let us know if she really does, so far her couch is toast and some appliances but Dairydude is insured so we'll see . Thank you all so much.
And hats off to El Wadi for being a true friend and showing up and helping with everything.

OMG. I just sent her a toaster oven - late Christmas gift. She'd wanted one for so long. I hope that wasn't the cause. I hate that there's now way to get in touch with her.
Damn. She needs to come back to TN with us where she's safe.
If anyone hears anything please let us know. And if you talk to her before I do please let her know she's always welcome back our way.

Ok, I went and read the original post from the other forum. Looks like it started with the furnace in the basement. Ugh. The windows in the house have been busted out, the floors have holes in them from the fire. She's lost at least some appliances and her couch. I loved that couch. :( I lost many card games on that couch.
I've been in touch with Edds via EM. There's really no way to get in touch with Dashie. Her cell isn't working and the phone she had in the house had been hit by electricity ages ago and never repaired. Argh!!
Although Edds and I joked about sending her a cell so we could call her, I'm truly thinking of doing it. We've got Verizon - at least hubby and the kids do - and with them even a pre-pay you can get free Verizon to Verizon calls. At least we'd have a way to keep in touch with her. And we could add money to her phone when it's needed.
I just hate not being able to get in touch with her and talk to her and know she's ok. And I know she is. She's got to be the strongest woman I've ever met. But I'm a huge worrier and pessimist and until I've talked to her I'll worry about her and the kids.
Maybe I'll send her a one way CT to TN plane ticket for her and the babies instead of a phone.....

I just got a call from Dashie and wanted to update all.
She said the fire was from a short in the basement in the furnace and it spread. She's currently staying at Dairy Dude's FIL's house and says it's fine there. The house is set up for company so she's safe and cozy. There is a lot of smoke damage to her things, but the losses were actually pretty minimal. She said the electronics and the computer are probably fried. The fire also took out the phone service in the barn so she's got no communication. She had a minute or so on her cell that she used to call me and it ran out of time while we were talking.
She did assure me that they are ok though. She even saved bun-bun for Herbie-dude - his favorite toy. She tripped over it on the way out the door and was afraid he'd go back for it so she snagged it.
I'm looking into getting her a cell phone - probably a Verizon - and sending it her way with some time so she can keep in touch. She said she'll probably be unable to communicate on here for a couple months. I'm also looking into a used computer for her. My IT guy at work has some connections so I'm hoping I can pick one up for a couple hundred bucks. Won't be top of the line or state of the art, but it's something. I'm hoping she can save the hard drive on hers to at least move over her pictures. I don't think she had them backed up any place. If it were me, losing all of my photos would be about the biggest heart break.
She hasn't received the Christmas gift we sent her which is good. She can use it now. And it's a really nice one too.
Anyway, she's fine, the critters are fine. Just wanted to update everyone!

Thanks for keeping us updated!
I know fires are terrible. My biggest concern if a fire ever broke out would be the photos. Everything else can be replaced. I sure hope she can get her photos off the hard drive.
Glad everyone is OK. I'll be sending in donation this week.

Thank you for the update. I have been thinking about her. Fire is one of my nightmares as it is with everyone. I keep saying I need to back up my photos and put them in the safe deposit box. I think it's time to stop talking and do it. I have house photos and my dolls and pottery for insurance purposes but I need to put all of my animal pictures on a disk and put them in the box. I hope her photos can be saved.

Thank goodness she & the dogs are okay. That is the most important thing. I am sending her prayers her way!! This is such a bad time (well don't think anytime is good) but in the dead of winter.Thoughts & prayers headed her way.

Oh - I forgot to add....
She'd had renters insurance since she moved up there but it was way too expensive to keep so she opted to cancel the policy in December. It became in active December 31st. 2 stinking weeks later she goes through this. Argh!!! The poor thing can't get a freaking break!!
Oh - and I saw on the way to work this morning that someone won the lottery - and it wasn't me even though it was supposed to be. Now I'm really mad. I had a floor plan for her cabin and everything.
