I guess this is a Training issue.... either that or a Horsekeeping issue... Or maybe it might have been Generally Interesting... I dunno
Some of you might remember my thread on horse.com: Mare pees every time we walk in the barn (http://forum.horse.com/tm.asp?m=444256&mpage=1&key=)
It seems to be a common enough issue, from the responses there at the time.
Well, I decided a while ago that I had HAD it with this behavior. If not for her peeing every time I walk in the barn to feed, I'd have an easy life, in terms of stall cleaning. Bay never goes potty in there, and the pony much less then Cyn. Cyn needed to stop.
So I started going after her hard for it. I'd yell and try to snap her in the butt with the lunge whip, throw things at her, bang on the barn walls, anything... often foolish-looking behavior on my part to the casual observer:deadhorse:, but as it turns out, mostly effective!
She has all but stopped doing this, and the difference in my need to clean stalls, and my bedding expenses, is noticeable! Sometimes she'll still start setting up to squat while I'm measuring grain, but I can usually warn "Cyyyyyyyn :nono:" in a serious voice and she'll stop, and at least go out in the lean-to to pee. It's an improvement, I'll take it.
But today, she went clear outside.
It really takes so little to make me happy these days :cowboy:
