Well, Sombra has officially been delivered to her new home. I cried like a baby and I am feeling better, but it still hurts to think about it. I'm not worried about her as her new owner is great, but it's hard to let go of my girl. It was a little embarrassing to be bawling like a baby in front of everyone, but somehow it didn't matter. Sombra was so sweet and stayed with me in the paddock. Even though she really wanted to look at her new surrounding she kept coming back and letting my cry on her neck. I'm confident she'll have a good life and know I will get a chance to buy her back if she's ever for sale.
With the money from Sombra I am getting Rashad a new blanket and Faith and I are going to get him a FULL vet exam with all the tests, check-ups and tune-ups. Tonight I'm ready to order his blanket, BUT I just can't decide on the color!! I keep going back and forth, back and forth. Anyone wanna help?? I'm going to post pictures of the colors I like and let you all help me choose.
Option #1:

Option #2

Option #3

Here's what Rashad looks like:

There are more options in the blankets, but they don't show full body shots of those options. I can't decide on a blanket by looking at a color swatch!! Don't they know that? LOL. Anyway, please tell me what you think.

Awe, I'm sorry, SWMS. I know it's tough, but I hope you are content with your decision even though it hurts.
((HUGS))
I think Option #1 would look purdy on him.

I'd go with #1 or #3.
The pink is just not going to look good after a night in the mud, let alone a winter.
Personally, the color of blankets makes very little difference. Put them on a horse, they're soon going to look like this:

Oh - and I too am very sorry about the tears for your mare. I can only imagine. I do hope you can feel good about it as time passes.

I'm sorry SMS that you had to let Sombra go, but at least she went to an amazing place where she will be loved and spoiled like she was with you.
I think #1 would look snazzy on Rashad. :)

Thank you all for the encouragement. Like I said I am happy she went to such a nice lady. Turns out Sombra may pull her husband into horses too. He's not horse savvy, but he just LOVES Sombra. It was so cute to see him leading her around. He was on the wrong side of her and had the lead all jumbled up. He didn't want to give her up though... Sombra was very compassionate though and took it easy on him. Both Meredith and Robert (the hubby) spent all day out there with her and will spend some of tomorrow there too. Meredith is also taking the rest of the week off to just hang out with Sombra. I teased her that she was taking her maternity leave. LOL.
I am leaning toward the first one. I just keep thinking that blue is soo common. All his stuff is purple since I gave Faith all Sombra's stuff to use on Rashad-because I was selling Sombra. So for that reason I WANT to pick purple. But, WB is right...that would look yucky covered in mud. :(

Strange as it may sound, I'm glad you chose to cry your tears.
You'll never forget that time, you were living life to the fullest.. bitter or sweet. And as much as it hurt, it would only have been magnified if you tried to keep your composure. You go girl! ((((((BIGHUGS))))))
OH- and I like the 3rd blanket. Green? Or it looks green to me. Whichever it is, I like it.

I think #3 would look the best, although Im a blue nut..lol
I must have missed the post on why you were selling Sombra. Glad she is going to a good home and a good cry like that is a good thing. Will help ease your heart.
As to the blanket choices - I like #3 - but I like green.

So where is JackieB? I'm actually seriously considering putting purple on my GELDING and he's not here to tell my blue is a better choice. Someone stop me now!! I know it would be yucky covered in mud, but I still like it. Someone quick tell me blue or green is better!!
I have to say I'm no where nearer a decision...

It all sounds so bitter sweet and my heart aches for you! Hopefully she'll be close enough to visit and maybe ride once ina while :) I like option #1 and #3....I think he would look so handsome in the blue, all of them really, but the blue is my fav :)
Sounds like he will look handsome in his new gear - we need pics when you get it!
BTW - Nothing wrong with purple on a gelding! Drifter has a purple halter. :)

i think number three would compliment his coat color most and hide dirt best
also sorry you ended up having to sell your horse but just remember you never know when a new better opportunity will enter into your life or if sombra will enter your life again at somepoint
#1, I like the blue!
I'm sorry about having to sell your mare. :(

I like the blue (that's the one I have!), the one you chose. You picked the one I showed you, it's a great blanket!
I'm glad your mare went to a good home and you got to really tell her goodbye. Will the new owner keep you updated?

Sorry Jessica,
I wish I was there with you when you delivered her. You are making me cry now. Great, let me get some tissues. But you still have Rashad and he is doing good. He loves his new food and I rode him the other day. I just bought Dolly a cooler but it is yellow. Not my first choice of course but that is all they had in her size and I needed it for this weekend. I cant beleive that Rashad is a 70 and Dolly is a 74.
Well call me if you want to talk. I am here for you.

Thanks Farmers. I can't tell you how thankful I am that you have my boy. I know he's having a great time. I'm glad he's eating the new food. I sent the blanket, halter and lead directly to your house. I took the free shipping, so it may not be super fast getting to you.
Maybe we can talk on Thursday. If I try to talk about Sombra much sooner I'll just end up crying again. I'm just fine until someone says, "So how are you doing?" Then I feel like crying again.

Rashad loves his new food. I had Leann out and she said I was giving enough and maybe I could do more if I feed only 2x a day. I think he is gaining a little weight. He already knows where he gets his food. I take him out of the fence and let him eat there.

Thanks Faith. I'm borrowing my mom's car on Thursday and plan to come down to meet you. I have a big list of stuff to bring to you. :) Maybe you'll even get the blanket before then. :D I can't wait to see it.
