UTI in Mares???

Does anyone know what the symptoms of Urinary Tract Infection in a mare? My friend wrote me and asked for me to ask you guys. She said she's peeing frequently and won't take the left lead (seriously won't take left lead, I'm thinking new trainer on that one, LOL) and maybe she's coming around. But if you have any info I'd appreciate it, thanks

I have heard of it but do not know what the symptoms are. I will ask my trainer today cause his wife runs a throubred breeding program so I am sure she will know...

If she were peeing frequently and sore backed I would say kidneys... not sure about only one lead being affected. A UTI symptom is usually difficulty peeing.

Gosh...I don't know what to say. :huh: Wish this came up later as I am taking my mare into the equine hospital on Friday. I'll check around today at the gymkhana and see if anyone has heard of this.
