After the Santa ana winds died down my sis and I decided to take a short trial ride. I was going to try Vicor, but as I was free lunging him I noticed his shoe coming loose, so my sister pulled his shoes and he got the rest of the day off.
I tacked up Gracie and Sis tacked up Hazel. Hazel was not in the mood, she was being a brat. Gracie however was relaxed, eager and forward. No spooking, not head tossing, trotted off as soon as I asked for it.
We cut the ride real short as Hazel was acting really weird, and she was very stiff. So when my sister stopped at the house I asked Grace to keep on going, our first time off on our own. She was AWESOME! A little hesitate, but she went forward as soon as I asked her, we walked to the end of the street and back and she was unbelievable!
I am on cloud nine right now!!!
:D
My head still isn't 100% so I didn't push her on but I am just SOOO happy. Even with the winds and the chill in the air she was fantastic! Maybe she sees Vicor as competition for moms affection and she is going to prove she can be both a riding and driving horse!

it wasn't all Grace though. I didn't get on her with my usual mind set....
Instead of thinking..."Oh Gosh, What terror is she going to put me through this time", I was thinking, maybe we'll go to the jumping dog house...or maybe the "truck stop" house. I was thinking about where we would go instead of what she will do.
I kept my mind clear and she kept calm. I am so happy with her and myself. I want to ride tomorrow whenthe kids are at school... I want to ride everyday again...at least try too.
I am starting to feel like myself again, and it feels WONDERFUL! :D

Yay!! great progress. Its good to have a good mind set. I know how that is, I am always thinking , "now, this could happen, or she/he could do this, and I could do this, "etc. so great job for you both! lol

Awesome news! A good mind set goes a long ways. I definitely need to work on that! Hopefully the competition from Vic gives her a little attitude adjustment too!
