View Full Version : Yet Another Entrep Day Vent (sorry)

Sorry I need another vent.
I told my mom that we need to figure out what I'm going to do about Entrep Day because my teacher is going to ask for $5 next week and that set her off. She starts telling me that she doesn't like how I'm "stringing my teacher along" because she might be making plans to give me space. I honestly have no idea what I'm going to do. I guess tomorrow I'll have to tell her that my mom says no. The last time I told her that she told me that she was going to pay for everything. I just don't know what to do. :(

((((((((hugs))))))). Sounds like it's a "danged if you do, danged if you don't" scenario. I'm sorry.:(

((((((hugs)))) i think i missed the last thread about entrep. day the most recent one.
seems like nothing seems to be working. at least your teacher is trying to be helpful instead of yelling that you cant afford anything at the moment. I've had teachers sort of like that
Gonna go if i missed thread.

Thanks Bronson and Ponies. No I didn't try to tell my teacher that my mom doesn't want to be in debt to yet another person. This was quite a while ago. I think I might have a plan. I'm going to go in tomorrow and tell my teacher, "I told my mom that Entrep Day was coming up last night and that you would be expecting $5 and she told me that we didn't have any money so I couldn't do it. I thought that she had said that we were going to figure something out, but apparently not. She also said that she didn't know what I was doing and that she was still waiting for a permission slip." At this point, I really just don't want to mess with it. I was hoping that maybe I could do everything up to Entrep Day except for advertising and paying dues and then just skip that day so I might mention that. I just don't know what I'm going to do. I'm getting all stressed out over this (to the point of tears) and I seriously just want to be done with it all. If my teacher wants to take it up with my mom then she can e-mail or call her. I'm sick of being the little messenger girl. I've explained it to my mom before and I guess she forgot. I'm sure that she knew that my teacher thought I was going to being doing bracelets, but apparently she forgot. I wish I hadn't let it get this far.

i agree with waht mare said on the other thread. it is unapropriate and stressful for both you and your mom.
And I think using use as a messenger is just stupid in general. theres no way you can single handedly change your situation, if you could you probably would.
maybe can you try arranging a project that you could do instead? just curious what kind of tings do you do in entrepenuer (sp? mind blanking ) class??
maybe you could do a project wehre instead of selling stuff like design a business....... and what everything in it would be. maybe like let say a barn owner or something you could explain how everythign would be run and draw a design (or dooldle) of what it would look like?
My school doesnt have entrep. class. we just have economics, general buisness anda few others.

I would. Tomorrow I'm going to tell my teacher that if she wants to talk to my mom then the school should have her e-mail on record. Or she can give her e-mail or phone number to me and I'll give it to my mom.

Usually we just answer questions out of the book. Last trimester we had to do a couple projects. One of them was we had to interview someone in a career field we might be interested in going into (I did a horse dealer that lives nearby) and the other was we had to make a business plan (I did a horse breeding stable). That stuff was relatively fun, but Entrep Day is just...
I feel better now that I've had a good cry and I've typed it out. There aren't many times a good cry and vent can't make you feel better. :) Thanks everyone. I'll update tomorrow after my talk with my teacher. Tomorrow's going to be a loooong day.

ahh i see. just either have your mom email her or give her your mom's since its not very fair that your getting stuck in the middle when you cant do to much about it.
see if maybe since its so stressful on everyone involved (maybe not the teacher but...) explain to her and suggest maybe doing a project...... do something you'll enjoy that you can do without having to spend money given your situation.
Glad your feeling better! just keep your head high tommorow, and try to just keep explaining why entrep day wont work.

Glad it went well. I had another thought. Just think of how these difficult experiences will help provide you with life experience for your writing. It may be uncomfortable, but you know what it's like to truly have to struggle just to make ends meet. I'll bet that you will end up being very successful in life and you will look back and feel grateful that you didn't have it easy growing up.

Now full story:
I went into Entrep Class and waited by her desk until she turned around and said hey.
Me: "I talked to my mom about Entrep Day last night because we hadn't really been talking about it and she got mad and said we didn't have enough money to do it and I couldn't do it because she said we didn't have enough money.
Teacher: "Okay. Can you maybe make cupcakes and cookies or something?"
Me: "No I can't do any cooking because our kitchen's too small" (which is definitely true. not only that but baking costs money too)
Teacher: "Okay thanks for telling me."
Later she came up to me and said, "We'll have to figure something out. Maybe you could do something with the school store or something."
I'd be perfectly fine working the school store that day. It would be a lot easier than making something myself to sell. That's one major problem solved. Thanks everyone for the advice/support.

There you go. Sounds like a great solution. Work in the school store and call it good. Good job facing a difficult situation directly. Long after your entrepeneurial class worries are over, you'll be left with some additional life skills. That's not an easy situation you were in the middle of, and you handled it very well.
