that I made up a brand new word tonight. I think my fellow Georgian, Mr. Foxworthy, would be proud.

AND, it's a first for the english language, I believe. Two apostrophes in one word.

Are you ready?

-

Y'all'll.

-
-
-
As in, "I hope y'all'll come back and visit with us again soon."

Is it awesome or what!? I was just typing up an email to my bff and I automatically did it. It was only after the fact that I realized how awesome- and unusual- my new word is.

Okay, I'm going to bed now. This is gonna catch on like wildfire.

Y'all'll see.

But of course, cloedoll! But I must request that you place any necessary copyright markings on or around the word, and include a legal disclaimer at the end of any post containing said word. Oh- and could ya shoot me a pm first?

LOL- seriously, I've gotta get to bed now.

i thought ya'll was a everyday word. i use it all the time ya'll it means you all, doesn't it?

Equine_Woman
10-12-2008, 07:31 PM
Oh yes but ya'll'll means You all will! It's brilliant in fact I'm pretty sure I've used it before. . ..have to do some research on copyright royalties. . . of course with that being such a redneck word I might just whistle and look the other way.

carla
10-12-2008, 07:35 PM
You're exactly right, Equine. Now that you mention it, it is something we use everyday in *spoken* word. But you don't think about it because it just kinda all slurs together. Sounds like the regular "y'all." More like "y'aw-lll"

But type is what I'm copyrighting.. Yes, that's it. Type.

Carla...oh girl, I have got a book for you to read! Are you familiar with Celia Rivenbark? She is a NC writer and hilarious......I've got her book "We're Just Like You Only Prettier" about being a Southern woman, the thing is that most of the places she talks about, I have been so I can really relate! I can't wait to get "Stop Dressing Your 6 Year Old Like a Tramp". And she has a new one out........
Email me your address and I'll share.....

JackieB- *bows* Why thank you, kind sir.

(yes, SM, I thought the same thing, but a true belle always gracefully accepts a compliment, even if it could be mistaken for sub-complimentary)

ALOK- LOL! Those are pretty good ones, too! I like "yepsolutely," ha ha.

SM- I have to disagree on a hard rule for y'all plural. "All y'all" would be correct if one were replying to a question of, "who all are you inviting to your Nascar party?" "All y'all!"

However, when initially extending said invitation to a particular group, the correct form would be, "y'allall come to my Nascar party this weekend, mkay?"

See what I mean? Say it both ways and you'll see. It's like having to write out a word to see how it looks before you use it.

rums- I do believe I've heard of this author, but I haven't read any of her books.. I'll have to be on the look out! Oh- do you mean you'll mail me a copy of one/some? That'd be cool!

LOL HF, at my first "real job" out of high school, my supervisor was from NJ. He would say, "youts" ("yoots?" sorry, my expertise on yankee spelling isn't as good as my redneck..)

I wonder if I would visibly shudder every time, because he would always pause and look at me as if searching for a reaction when he said it. :D

if you want to hear some REAL good "yankee" talk......dig up some old audio clips of a guy named Myron Cope. he was a radio broadcaster for the Steelers.......he had his own language ... he was great to listen to!

lol.....y'uns, I've never heard that one.... I'm from up north but I say y'all.....maybe I'm a confused Yankee?!
For a good laugh at an exaggerated version of how some areas talk, watch the movie "Fargo", cracks me up every time....and, it's a great movie, y'all will love it! lol....

You are most welcome, Miss Carla. I actually was very sincere in my compliment. And you are such a Southern Belle. I must assume that this level of refinement comes from you mother's side of the family.

Did yah know the Nez Perce can't agree on how to spell thare words?

We have to choose between nee- me - poo and / or ni- mii poo.

They both sound the same but how you spell them depends on who

you want to offend or honer. :)

Remali- ha ha! That's one accent that actually mesmerizes me, lol. I can't remember if I've seen Fargo, but isn't there another movie with the same accent? (sorry I can't think of it, I'm not a huge movie buff)

Sidetrack from an already fairly pointless thread:

Another (albeit fake, I guess) accent/character that cracks me up is "Doreen Larkin," Stewart's mother.. Or am I the only one who likes those sketches?
