I HATE research papers I have decided. And since I am so unlucky my english teacher happens to think they are quote: "So hard they are FUN!":rolleyes::doh::mad::innocent:..... I have to write the rough draft of a paper on Wuthering Heights by Wednesday. It has to be 5 pages long with outside sources to support your idea and evidence as well as novel quotes. I being somewhat on top of things, have all my outside research printed out and ready to go....but now its the actually writing of the paper. I usually can write papers so naturally and say what comes to mind and it comes out beautiful...english is my best and favorite subject. But now I have a case of Writer's Block about Heathcliff as the tragic hero. I could probably do a speech on this no problem but for some reason I am having a difficult time getting it down on paper and looking like a junior wrote it (not a 7th grader!)
Sorry guys just had to vent, I'm very stressed out at the momento!

Go listen to some music...i usually write while i'm listening to music, it helps for some reason. Have you tried waking up extra early and writing then? What about late at night? Those are usually the times when you can write best and get you ideas flowing. Good luck.:)

I hear ya. I'm getting loaded with papers and projects. Its a little daunting because its so much to keep track of. For instance, I've got an analytical essay over the book we're reading in English due in a couple weeks, and a huge 600 point project due in history on March 31st.
I'm lucky though that I have three really awesome teachers in math, science, and english. The only thing is history. The teacher seems to be clueless most of the time, not knowing the answers to our questions and never really teaching. She does what she calls "story time" which is a lecture put into a creative, fairy-tale style where you can't get anything out of it, but she thinks it is fun. She is making us make maps of europe out of rice and sand because she thinks it will make us be creative. Come on, this is a high school class. I've got a test tomarrow and I'm stressed because I have no notes or anything because she just doesn't teach, but the test is super in depth. She even said "You'll have to research on your own for this test". Hello, on our own while were wasting class messing with sand and rice?

I'm sorry but I agree with your English teacher. I think they're fun to do, too! LOL :D
Sorry you're having a block, I'm sure it will end up sounding great though! I would take your mind off of it for a while. And go get a nice tall glass of water.

I got paid to write other people's research papers when I was in high school. And no, I won't write yours! :)
They can be a lot of fun actually.
Write backwards. Start with your conclusion and write everything leading up to it then your beginning. Works like a charm.

I had to write a Macbeth one last semester, that one was ok but the topic wasn't as interesting. I am actually excited about the topic but can't seem to get the juices flowing. I have listened to some music, but haven't really gotten anything yet. Its just the rough draft for Wednesday so it doesn't have to be perfect. I think I'm going to give it another go at 9:00 and change the font to Verdana that usually helps me. I usually LOVE writing papers...but this block is really getting to me!
This teacher (I love her to death) but she is the hardest teacher in the english department...not saying its a bad thing. I mean its good it challenges me more but it can be frustrating when you work super hard on what you think is A quality and she slaps a big B on it. I know it will help in the long run though.
Thanks Guys
