Ok, all of you who don't live in Northwestern PA are probably right now going, "what is she talking about. Who ever heard of Franklin?" lol:p
Well it's not my tiny, blink-and-you-missed-it town; it's about 20 minutes away from my house and it actually has lots of different stores, more then two restaurants, more than two gas stations a Kmart, a bunch of plazas with a Good Will and dollar store, chinese food place, etc. And it has traffic lights and actual traffic too!

Well my dad really wants me to drive all over the place and it sort of preasuring me to take the wheel more and more, even thought I really don't feel comfortable doing that:(. I feel fairly at ease with driving to work in my tiny town (five miles away, it's mostly back roads, and when I actually get into town I only have to go through two traffic lights, and the one is just a blinking red light:innocent:), but he says that no longer counts and isn't good enough.
So last night I drove the five miles home in the dark, which went ok, except I couldn't seem to work my headlights to save my life and kept hitting the turn signal instead... So I blinded two other drivers with my high beams:huh:. I made every effort to go to low beams... I just signaled a right turn instead. My bad.:whistle:
But my dad wasn't overly impressed with that so he insisted that I drive to Franklin when my mom and I went. So I did. I was actually going 60 mph on rt. 322!:jawdrop: It really made me nervous because I'm not used to going so fast with more traffic around. But my mom said I did ok and I made it all the way to K-mart and even parked fairly straight!:D
I didn't drive into the busier part of Franklin because I would have had to switch lanes and go through more traffic lights and I couldn't take any more stress, lol.:o But I made it farther then what I was aiming for, so I guess it's all good:). My goal point was the 'Welcome to Franklin' sign on the outskirts of town, so that way if my dad asked I could tell him that yes, I had driven all the way to Franklin and it woudn't be lying.:innocent: But I drove farther before I bailed so hoorah for me.

Ok, I'm done babbling.:p Sorry for the pointless thread, hehe.:D I'm just sort of excited, even though it's not like I did anything all that great, lol.:innocent:

haha, I would be excited too! I know where Franklin is (I think), hehehe. My friend Nick let me dive his car on the back roads, and that's the longest I have ever driven (although I don't have my permit, so I am not really aloud to drive:innocent:) I don't think I would be able to do what you did, so, lol, great job, man, I realllyy need to get my permit! I am going in this week!

Good job!!! It gets easier!!! I remember those days!! I had to drive all over the place in traffic because I lived in a big city. . . and my driving school of course made us! I will never forget though when I was 17 learning to pull my horse trailer!!! I went to a big rodeo in Fort Worth and at the time the entrance for I30 had a two lane merge that you had to get over fast on or you ended up down town. . .scared the living daylights out of me without a horse trailer. . with one I was having a coronary about 10 miles out. . .I made it but I don't know how I didn't side swipe someone. . .lol.

Thanks guys.:) I have to tackle Meadville next. And then I actually have to get brave enough to drive in the busier part of the 'city', where I'll actually have to switch lanes, etc. Not looking forward to that!

Job well done, Dakota! And ITA- I totally remember that insecure/wobbly feeling behind the wheel. But nothing but driving time will fix it!

I think it's wonderful that your dad is doing all of this for you. Way to go!

Haha. He is pretty awesome, but definately not the one I want teaching me to drive. I had to drive into work with him and my mom in the our SUV, and I got yelled at for driving too fast, even though I was going under the speed limit. The funny thing is my mom is always telling me to speed up.:innocent: I got yelled at for a bunch of other stuff too. I did not impress him.:(
