Well James called me on Friday afternoon in a panic, he had just had a call from his brother telling him that his 87 year old mother had fallen and was in hospital being x-rayed for a suspected broken hip.

She lives in Edinburgh in the UK we live in Holland....he collected me at 5pm from work and we went into organisational overdrive.....by 7.30pm we had;

3 dogs dropped off at the kennells
flights booked
Packing done and were stepping into a taxi for the airport.

As we got out of the taxi at Amsterdam his mobile rang....it was his mother saying all ok she was back in the nursing home and just felt a bit weak.

We got into Edinburgh at midnight and had a surprise weekend with his brother and his wife....mother is very very weak and all things considered it is probably a good thing that James had the opportunity to spend some time with her.

Got back at 8pm last night, collected dogs from kennells, shattered and back to work today.....

So my thoughts of having a relaxed weekend walking the dogs and playing with Nevada went right out of the window!

Still impressed with ourselves that we could pull everything together in such a short space of time!

Ageing parents gotta love em......we explained to her that if she wanted a visit to call no need to throw herself out of bed to get us there!;)

Awe! I hope she will be ok. You guys really jumped into action!

That sounds like my dad- super organized. He does everthing (and I learned it from him:cool:) in a neat, proficient, military manner. Of course he was in the Air Force for 4 years, a cop after that, and now is the Deputy Sergeant for the Sherrifs Office and also is in the Army Guard.:cool: So no wonder he does things that way!:D

I remember when we were moving into our new house a few years back (it was on the same property- the.... building... we were living in before was only temporary (can 5 years be considered temporary?:innocent:) and the new house was finally done. It was Thanksgiving Day, and it was raining. So everytime there was a break in the rain we all would jump into action, and we somehow managed to get every piece of furniture and every item we owned moved into the new house in one day, and without a single thing getting wet. Which is pretty impressive on a day that was 90% chance of rain and stormed almost non stop.:cool: LOL, good times.
