I am trying to not drink so much pop but when I do drink like Pepsi max and/or diet Pepsi or diet Coke. Most of them only have like 25mg of sodium...Is this really bad to drink? I am trying to eat better and all, but I do have a sweet tooth:D

We give salt to our horses and obsess about it for ourselves... what's wrong with this picture? ;)
Personally, I think: Do the best you can to eat right and be healthy, but you only live once. If you like pop, drink pop. :)

YUCK, pop! :puke: lol (sorry probably not helping :p)
It's pure sugar, caffeinated, fattening, etc. So no, it's not good for you. And I would never ever drink a pop a day... I know lots of people that drink 3 a day! Eww. Did you know that 1 pop has your recommended intake of sugar for 1 day? eck!
However, neither chips nor chocolate bars are healthy for us, but we still consume those. I think it's important to enjoy within moderation.

Diet pop doesn't have any sugar at all in it.
And not nearly enough caffeine :D

Lol, I don't have one a day or try not too, lately my mom has bought pop, so it's hard not to drink it. That's why I do diet pop, It, to me, or so it says on the label, has pretty much nothing in it!

That's good you don't drink them everyday! :)

Yup... I'm sure the artifical sweetners in diet soda are a lot better for you  lol

Roll your eyes all you want. I'm not going to obsess on Diet pop.
Among my sins, it's hardly the biggest offender.

Okay two people will  for U!
Try some fruit juice instead of pop,OR combine the two, juice and gingerale/club soda and slowly wean yourself off the pop. Water is always better for u. Get a fun water bottle and keep it with you(bedroom, car, barn)!!

I would be more concerned about the artificial sweeteners in diet pop. They're bad.
Well, any pop is bad....but that fake stuff is scary.

Totally agreed.
I drink way too much pop, I know this. I try to supplement juice and flavored water. I know I should drink normal water but I don't like it...I do drink more of it in the summer however. As I'm trying to cut down on my pop intake, I will drink less...I would never switch over to anything diet or artificial. Just doesn't seem good to me.
I'm also all for the live your life approach to things. :)
Why don't you cut back on regular pop, but still allow yourself some? I avoid diet sodas - that fake stuff is no good for a body. Lovely migraine trigger & if not a full blown migraine, at least a headache for me.
Another healthier alternative is to mix sprite with your choice of fruit juice. Cranberry or orange are really good, but I'm sure you could do it with any. You get the fruity flavor plus the vitamins in the fruit juice, but still the fiz of the pop. Tasty. Club soda could also be used.

My Southern mind is about to explode!!! All this 'Pop'! Lol. It's Coke!! That's what we call it down here, even if it's Dr. Pepper. And I'm an addict. I don't smoke, or drink alcohol, or do any other harmful thing but I'm addicted to Coke. And I'm trying to quit. But I swear it's got it's claws in me. . .Luckily I LOVE Water so hopefully I can learn to live without it. (Said while listening to a freshly opened Coke bubble in happy carbonation next to me)

Diet pop is not very good for you, because of the sweetener they use instead of sugar. If you want a diet pop that is better, drink Diet Rite, which uses Splenda as sweetener. The Pure Zero Raspberry and the Orange are good, never tried the others. :)

EW *soda pop* *soda pop* *soda pop* *soda pop* *soda pop*
I know that drives southerners nuts... I chuckle about it. You'd think with TV and sitcoms and culture that seems fairly national and homogeneous we'd not have this difference still, but we do!
That and she thinks I abuse the word barbecue to use it to describe my grill. :)

Roll eyes indeed. Google 'aspertame' and look up some of the health hazards. You might start drinking puddle water.

If there's one thing people like me don't do, it's google something like 'aspertame' :p

I won't drink diet anything, it's just too gross - plus artificial sweeteners are death (and taste like it too). I guess it's my family's roots... if we're going to do something, we're going to do it all the way (addictive personalities are a common trait in my family). I'll just drink my Cokes (and no, we don't have soda, pop, or a combination thereof WB :p), otherwise live relatively healthily, and call it even. ;)
If you take out all the bad habits, then you're just left to pick at the good ones. :cowboy: I give up Coke nearly every year for Lent, and about this time every year I'm back to drinking Cokes three or four (or five, or twelve) times a week. You only live once (according to most religious and non-religious perspectives :D), enjoy it.
Edit: In a slightly related story, other day I heard someone as if they served "suudah" at a restaruant, and the poor waitress looked at the guy like he'd grown an extra head, "I'm sorry?" "suuudah." "I... umm...." The poor woman was trying to figure out what on earth he was talking about, when someone at the next table - apparently a northern/southern translator, helped. "He's asking if you serve Cokes."
:D
I like Cats idea.
There are some little known studies, and they are very hard to find (usually have to pay big $$ to subscribe to a journal and be credentialed) that show that our bodies respond to diet foods. To put it my over-simplified way -- It jacks with your metabolism and sets you up to not only eat more, but turn a bigger amount of what you eat right into fat.
If you really like soda, drink an occasional regular one. But, there was another study done 11-12 years ago that showed that college kids who ate one candy bar OR drank one pop a day gained 15 pounds a semester.
Those items are treats. Figure out when you deserve or want to have your treat.

Pop....?
Lol, I'm diabetic, so I can't drink coke unless it's Diet, and I hate the tasate of diet anything. It's just not worth it. I keep a bottle of Mt. Dew or cherry coke around for when I have lows. It's the only time I get to induldge. I miss sweet tea more than anything though!

I like Coke Zero. It doesn't have aspartane (or however you spell that!) Aspartane messes with my "female cycle" and gives me constant PMS. Lord knows I don't need any help in that area!!!

Lol, pop.
We had a guy move from Chicago to our little southern town and he transferred to our tiny HS (as you can imagine) where we only had like 600 people in the combined HS/MS building..
He said something about a "pop" one day and everyone looked at him like  "Wha..?"
Anyways, lol..
I drink one 20 oz a day.
I know it's bad, but I'm addicted..

People, it's soda! :p I was addicted to soda, seriously, I was actually addicted, but now am off of it. :D It is pretty bad for you for the reasons luv2show mentioned and just to throw another one out there, it weakens your tooth enamel. I hate that. I rarely have any anymore because when you think about it, there really are a lot more healthy beverages out there. ;) However, there are tons of worse things you could be having/doing, so it's really up to you. xD

I'm so weird, I only get migraines when I have regular soda, diet just tastes bad to me.

It's not the 25mg of sodium in coke, its the phosphoric acid that eats through your teeth and the aspartame and other artificial things that your body can't digest thats bad for you. Though sodium is fine in moderation, too much can cause you to retain water. Most soda also has caffeine which is a diuretic that can lead to dehydration, and as someone mentioned, the artifical sugar can make you hungrier

Yikes, I am sooo far behind. I have been busy with school! I am trying to do better and I would say in a week I have maybe 3 pops, sodas, or whatever, lol, so I am doing better. I have flavor packets for water and that helps. I need to start jogging too, but I am trying to drink more water!

Well, like they say....all things in moderation. I do like pop (love Pepsi and Coke), but I try to limit it, and I don't drink diet. Sometimes Coke can help relieve a nauseated-feeling tummy. But, like so many things that taste so good, pop's just bad for you, and rots kids' teeth.

Here in Minnesota they call it pop, but I think that's such a silly word! Where I grew up it was soda and it will always be soda to me.
Sorry, I'm a Diet Coke drinker. I try to keep it in moderation but I do love the stuff. I guess we'll see if it kills me at a young age . I try to eat/drink right but I also will not get all caught up in the "food" hysteria. I'm not saying aspartame is good for you, but it's not exactly proven that it's bad at acceptable doses. You can't believe everything you read on google.

Well just to add to this, the darker in color the soda, pop, soda pop, etc. the worse it is for your body.
Water is best, end of story. Do I always follow that, NO!
