Ok well usually I'm the one girl who boycotts turnabout every year but a few of my friends have suckered me in about asking one of my guy friends.
Surprisingly after my homecoming nightmare and awkward date I am willing to give this another round. The only thing I'm not sure of now is how to ask him:huh:. Most of the girls at my school have all these creative ways and I really have nothing besides a thing of cookies that spell out turnabout.
Anyway does anyone have a fun way of asking someone....I don't want to go over the top ;) but I don't want it to be an awkward casual ..."Hey do you wanna go to turnabout with me?" thing either:doh:.
Thanks in advance!!
O and I guess I'll add a few things about him....
-He and I LOVE the same type of music...SO Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, The Killers, anything grunge or alternative rock really
-He is also big into running and competes in cross country and track

See I would go for the awkward, straight asking method, afraid that he'd laugh at any other way. . .but then I'd never be brave enough to do it!!! If I think of anything I'll be sure to come back and share!!! Good luck!

What is a 'turnabout'? :) A particular dance at school or ??? Am I hopelessly 'out of it'?

Hmm, do you have an iPod?
Maybe you can go up to him and ask him what album the song you're listening to, is from. ( Obviously play one you think you both like and know :) ) And before you ask him this, edit the songs album name from iTunes and change it to "Turnabout" or "Will you go to turn about with me"...something like that anyways.
So when you ask him, what album it's from and he just blurts out the right answer, maybe say something like, "well that's what I thought, but it's not what my iPod says!" *both look at the album name YOU gave it*... he says "HAHAHA, Yes!" You both laugh.......yada yada. LOL
Okay so maybe that sounds kinda corny to you, I don't know! LOL personally, I'd do that even though I'd probably laugh like crazy afterwords and not really keep that flirty attitude when asking him, you know?
LOL that's all I got right now. Maybe I can think of a better idea! lol

My sister did a video to Sadie Hawkins Dance by Reliant K for there's (its called Twirp)lol to ask her guy friend to go. She just did pictures and put them to go with the words of the song, it was hilarious.
This ones pretty elaborate (sp?) but would be way fun.

It's like a Sadie Hawkins Dance where the girls ask the boys. My school just changed the name to some weird "modern" name.

I like the cookie idea... but the way to my heart is through my stomach, so my opinion may be a bit skewed. :D

Well I asked him today. Because of my luck my computer with my itunes had a lot of issues and we can't use it until my cousin comes to fix it. Sooo...no itunes and no editting a song title. BUT I did use the music theme to make a poster to put in his locker. I took an old cd and turned it where they shiny part was showing and then wrote Turnabout? on it with fabric paint and hot glued it to a poster with loads of glitter and pictures of his favorite bands. I was planning on putting it inside his locker but he has it set up where the school can't give his combo out...so I had to put it on the outside which scared me. I was sure I put it on the wrong one or someone who rip it off or it would fall off. Luckily that wasn't the case and he got it and said yes!! It made my day!

Oh we are too much alike ;). I would say yes to anyone who gave me food, regardless of if I actually wanted to go or not, just to get the food!

I have always thought you seemed like someone in your late 20's, maybe early 30's. I guess I was wrong. LOL
It does sound like fun though and I hope y'all have a blast. :)
I don't know any of the music you talk about, lol :P, but if you both enjoy it that's great.;)

Thanks everyone...I am looking forward to it, the dance is Feb. 15...so I am getting my dress tomorrow.
And Remali you are in NO WAY an old bat. And o I do LOVE Audioslave. The guy I asked is just as big into that music as me so its nice that we have something in common.
And for the few of you who haven't heard of Nirvana, they are a big time band from the early 90s. I love ALL of their songs but their most famous would be Smells Like Teen Spirit which is probably one of if not thee biggest song of the 90s. I'm sure you've heard it at least once, even if you don't know what is was or who sang it....it has no way died down through the years.

Grunge,
You'll be happy to hear that a show I was watching a few weeks ago (maybe on VH1?) presented a countdown of the top rock songs of all time (or something like that) and "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was #1.
Have fun at Turnabout (although I don't know what's wrong with the term Sadie Hawkins - it was good enough for us in the days before electricity). He's a lucky guy.

Yeah its VH1, I saw that a few weeks ago too. I watched the whole thing waiting to see where Nirvana would be and other bands I like. I was amazed and thought it was so cool that they were number 1. One of my cousins was actually watching it and called me haha!
And awww thanks JackieB, I am hoping things will go better than they did at homecoming. And I know its weird that they call it that. I know some schools that call it Turnabout and others Sadie Hawkins...I think the old name suits it fine.
