Hey folks!

I am here!

And here we go!

Big Brown has grabbed a quarter during a workout.

The definition of 'grab a quarter' is: An injury to the back of the hoof resulting from a horse stepping on itself.

But apparently, he can't possibly heal within the next 2 weeks, so he's not running in the Breeder's Cup.

He's off for the breeding shed, I bet.

Edit: OK, having heard more information, it sounds like the injury was pretty bad. I just figured he'd gashed himself or something.

Thats too bad. Is there any details on the injury out yet, like how he did it (conformation or just an accident) or anything?

That horse has been running on crappy hooves his entire career...

Sad for him. Sterling grabbed her quarter once and it was pretty bad too. Took a while to heal.

Whoa, whoa. Just saw this come up on Yahoo. This doesn't just mean no breeders cup.

Big Browns' owners announced that he will not race again. Hes moving on to the stud life. So he is done with Dutrow and on to the lay-dees

I really wanted to see him in the Breeder's cup. This is a bummer.

Well I'm glad they at least decided that, on top of hoof problems and previous injuries/problems, he's better off not racing. I'm sad to see him go, but at least he's not being raced into the ground either.

Yup... so now he can breed even worse feet into more TB's! Joy!

I have to admit I'm not wild about his as a stallion - he may be a fantastic race horse but to breed bad feet just not a good thing.

it's too bad...he was a good racehorse :( im not crazy about him as a breeding stallion either, but it's better than racing him when he isn't fit to do so.;)
