Update: Muffin broke water pipe, pg 2.

My Tack room is being delivered on Monday!! I'm so excited!! I ordered it this past Monday and it's already built and ready to be delivered!

I use the garage as my tack room, but it's half full of horse stuff and half full of Hubby's stuff so we can't even fit a car in it if we wanted too. So, I really needed my own tack room so Hubby could have the garage all to himself.

I ordered a Western Style building like this one:

I put an over sized 4 foot door in the middle (one in pic is 3 foot), window on either side of door, two 24x24 inch sky lights and added another patio post so theres 4 instead of 3, that way the middle post will no longer be in front of the door.

It's 12 foot wide, 10 foot deep with a 4 foot covered patio (12x14 total). Built on skids so I can have it moved around the property if I change my mind and want it somewhere else.

I'm so stoked!!! I can't believe I finally got my tack room!! Wow!! Hubby is happy all my horsey stuff will be out so he can take over the garage. lol I can't wait to decorate it with bridle hooks, and tack racks! Theres plenty of room for Muffins harness cart, collars, saddle and training equipment! :clap:

I will get pictures when they come to drop it off. It's build at there warehouse and loaded on a flat bed to be dropped off.

Ohhh, I am so excited!! :happydance:The window panes and screens are nicer then the ones on my house!!! hahah

Thankx Everyone!! :) But......

I just looked out back and there was a big water spray coming from the back of Muffins pin!! He broke another water pipe and now the area I was going to have them put the tack room is flooded!!

Theres a dry area in front of his pin I can have them put it for now. Muffin made a big mess out back and the whole orchard area is flooded. He must have broke it early this morning.

I took video. I will get that posted soon..... At least this reminded me that it might not be a good idea to put the tack room where I originally was going to. That's the area that tends to flood because it's sloped slightly downward of his pen. I guess it's a good thing he flooded it today and not after I put the tack room there. Things tend to happen for a reason, I guess. lol

That is adorable! I know it's bound to be a pain in the rear, but he is soo cute.

I remember you saying why he turns his head for some trick or something but don't remember why that reason is. Could you refresh my memory? lol :p It's the cutest thing and I just love him. I see that halo on top of his head and he looks so innocent.

Haha, I love the video. He looked like he was saying "Ma, did you see what the dog did? You'd better punish him." And every time you ask what you're supposed to do, he looks at you like "Give me a kiss?" :hysterical:

He turns his head when you say "what" like your asking him a question. I wasn't trying to get him to do the trick I was just talking and happened to say "what" so he did it. lol I forget that's the cue sometimes.

Yeah, he wanted kisses. He always wants kisses. He's no longer satisfied with a single kiss...he wants you to keep kissing his nose several times and hold your face against his! He just soaks up the attention like a sponge. The farrier has realized he had better just do it and get it over with so Muffin will stop asking for a kiss. lol It's like a greeting to him or something. He just wants you to like him and giving him a kiss back shows it...I guess? I have no idea but he trys it with everyone.

We got the pipe capped off so it's fixed. Good thing Hubby purchased extras last time so we were ready this time :). lol

I can't wait for the tack room to show up!! I'm also getting a delivery from horse.com on Monday too. It's his SMB 3 boots, head bumper and some other horsey stuff. Monday is going to be a fun day with all this new horsey stuff arriving :)

Congratulation that is great you are getting a tack room.. I had a nice neat tack/feed room that was 10X20 except now it also has hubbys parts and pieces of misc. crap taking over it.

Muffin and my mare Heaven would get a long great....Heaven is great at breaking water pipes and turning on water faucets or messing with the automatic water supply to the tanks.

Yeah, I'm lucky. We don't have a limit on water usage and we just pay a fixed fee per month. So, This wont change are bill.

It did water the orchard...well, what's left of it!! Muffin, when he was younger would use my baby trees to scratch his belly!! He broke most of them in half or ran them over. The only ones standing are citrus trees with thorns (at least he was smart to stay away from those. lol) and one little baby apple tree. It's not much of an orchard anymore.... lol

Don't let that sweat face fool you! Muffins gets in to everything! lol

Niiiice tack room. :) After the snow melted the roof on mine broke in like a million places so all of my tack is in my room. The whole place is covered in mold and everything is rotting. :( I wish I had something nice like yours.

Muffin is so cute in that video (well isn't he always :rolleyes:)! He's like "uh... wasn't me mom!" :D

Ohh, I'm sorry Zoel. That's terrible your tack room collapsed! I hope you can get another built soon so your room isn't filled with horsey stuff for too long. I don't think I could walk around if I put all Muffins stuff in our room! lol He has a harness and driving equipment plus his saddle and tack. I think Hubby would be pretty made if I stuffed all that in the bedroom! lol

The tack room is going to be here today!! I have no idea what time. I will call them around 9am and see when they are coming out. Ohh, I'm soooo excited!! I have been looking at this building for about a year now! I can't believe it's going to be in my back yard today!!

Yeah it's pretty crowded in here. I have one saddle on my futon, one in a box, one on my computer chair, then I have some misc bridles and things on my desk and dresser and the rest of the stuff I crammed into the box my new saddle came in. The saddle pads I put in trash bags and put in my garage because they're way too smelly for my room. I had to bring everything in one piece at a time because my dad doesn't want me bringing horse stuff in the house. Good thing he hasn't been in my room lately :D

hahah Well, it's a good thing your Dad hasn't noticed your "new" tack room. lol Is he going to build a new tack room anytime soon?

I don't think my tack room is going to be delivered today:(. It started raining hard this morning and it's still coming down heavy. I'm sure I will get a call saying they are going to reschedule the delivery. It's going to be mud, mud and more mud out there.

This is he hardest rain we have had in a while. It's really coming down thick!

Update

It's rescheduled for Wed. Afternoon. Tuesday should be fine weather wise but theres another storm coming in on Wed. so I hope it holds off long enough to get the tack room delivered.

It's mud out there right now and the truck would/might get stuck, the deliverer has to make a delivery on Tuesday so Wednesday is the soonest he can try to get it out here. I just hope the storm holds off!

Yeah, Kinda a bummer! I was so excited!! Then I looked outside and realized it was raining and it only got worse from there.

The funny thing is now it's nice and sunny outside!!! Grrrr!! If only it hadn't rained so hard I would have been able to let the guy drop the tack room off. But, it really came down and it's mush out back.

I called are neighborhood handy man to get a quote on having a load of dirt delivered so I can make a pad for the tack room to sit on. That would help keep it from getting flooded in the area I want it. It's just a tiny bit lower, but it collects water. You wouldn't even notice it's lower when it's dry so I think it would only take a load of dirt to fill it in and make a 2 inch pad for the tack room to sit on.

What a bummer.....It's so nice outside too! I could be taking pictures and putting Muffins stuff in it by now. But, it's ok.. I would rather get this sorted out then have the poor driver get his truck stuck in the mud.

One good thing is I got my order from Horse.com. Muffins new SMB 3 boots are here! There turquoise and will match his hood! hahah Poor Muffin, Wait tell I deck him out in all his new pretty gear! JackieB is going to sue me for making Muffin look so goofy! I also have a matching tail bag so this should be pretty funny!

I will have to wait tell tomorrow to try his boots on him. I'm not going to put new boots on while hes playing in the mud. lol

Yeah, I got the SMB's :) I'm waiting to try them on him when it's not so muddy in his pen. I think I might be able to find a dry leg today to give them a test fit :)

The tack room is supposed to be here today!! YaY!!

I had a load of dirt dumped and spread to make a pad for the tack room to sit on, Yesterday. That way it's not on a low spot and gets flooded again. The dump truck got stuck in the mud!!! It had to be pulled out with a big tractor! So, it's a good thing I called off the delivery of the tack room on Monday or he would have definitely got stuck.

I just hope this storm holds off tell after the tack room is dropped off! I'm crossing my fingers we don't see rain tell tonight.

Yeah, It's been what...a year or so... I've been wanting and needing a tack room for some time now. lol I think your layout drawing helped too!! :) Thankx again! Hubby couldn't ignore my need for a tack room anymore and could see how stuff could fit in a nice tack room with out it having to be an expensive big building.

I went with a 12x14 because thats the biggest I could go with out having to deal with permits. Plus, I think 12 wide is a good standard if I ever wanted it to be at the back of a 12 foot aisle way or on the side of a 12 foot shelter.

Not bad enough to cancel the delivery. I'm glad I got the pad set up yesterday so as long as it's not raining extremely hard we should be good to go!

They are coming sometime after noon...I think they had a delivery in the morning and will drop mine off after that. ohhh, I hope the storm holds out!!! :confused:

Yeah, I had two sky lights put in. Theres no power to hook up lights out there so I figured those would help alot. Plus, I purchased a solar shed light kit that will allow me to turn on the light inside after dark.

I'm so excited!!! I think it's soo cute! I didn't realize how TALL it is!! hahaha

Muffin, he's so curious. I have to watch him to make sure his head isn't in the way! When they were making the pad the day before he kept wanting to sniff the tractor or eat the tires, I had to feed him his dinner so he would leave the poor workers alone. lol "me me me, give me kisses, move the tractor closer so I can get a good sniff, pet me, kiss me, love on me" :rolleyes:

I was so worried about the storm coming in and it never came!! It sprinkled that morning just a little then got nice and sunny, today it's nice and sunny? Storm...what storm? I hope it stays like this so I can start getting stuff moved to the tack room :)

Mom's coming over today. We are going to practice trailer loading Muffin now that I have his head bumper. I can also try his new SMB boots on him.

I finally got something to mount in the tack room. lol It's just an empty room, no shelves or tack hooks so I can't put anything in it just yet unless I want to just put it in a pile on the floor.

I ordered some blanket bars. There really neat! I ordered two but I think all I need is one. They hold 3 or more saddle blankets or pads (you could use it to hang horse blankets too).

It has 3 bars for hanging and it folds down or has different angles you can have the bar sit at for drying the blankets so they can hang free. It can stick straight off the wall and have blankets hang to air dry or fold it down so there all out of the way. It's a nice space saver and it keeps everything nice and easy to find.

I really like it! There $12 each and I would call for a better shipping price. It automatically charges $10 to ship each but I got two shipped to me for a total of $12 shipping.

I will get some video of it if you want to see how it works. It's really simple but such a good idea so you don't have to deal with pulling all the blankets off at once. I would be great for a boarding stable.
