Tried the saddle on Berma today. I am not sure about the fit, so I took some pictures to see what you guys think. I didn't put a pad down, or tighten the girth, so its just sitting there. I didn't get the best pics sorry, the camera was dying. Thanks guys!

What kind of saddle is that? Talk to me like I'm a dressage rider that does not know the difference between a barrel and a cow....:)
Anyway, it looks a little wide if it is supposed to fit like an english sadle but that may just be because there's no pad under it.

Honestly, lol, I don't know much about these kind of saddles, I have looked on google, and could hardly find anything. What I got is that it is a paso fino saddle, from CTK I guess they make them for the breed? I am not sure, but my friend who gave it to me used it for her appy. Would it still be ok to use even though its not the correct breed? haha, I am pretty clueless:doh:

The front and rear shots are a little too close to tell anything from.... We need you to stand back and give us the whole view from in front of the shoulder. From the side, it looks like there may be an issue with the angles in front that warrant a better view.
It looks a little like a cavalry saddle or something. Never seen anything like it.

I'll say one thing, it looks like it would be hell on the bare legs you gals like to ride in. It calls for chaps or tall boots or you're going to get pinched!

Yeah it's a version of a calvary saddle and girl you will NOT enjoy riding in shorts in that saddle!! LOL. It's designed for chap wearing because there are no fenders. I think I remember reading that these saddles were designed for PURE horse comfort and really leave little for the rider to enjoy. However, this saddle's seat looks alot more comfier than others I've seen. You definitely don't see many of them around.
As for fit, better pics from the front would be nice (not too close, but close enough to see how it angles on the shoulder). From the pics you've shown I don't think it looks half bad.

It appears the front of the saddle is not level with the back....inidicating it may be too narrow in the withers perhaps? I could be wrong though, that's just how it seems in the pic fromn the side.

I am glad they left my comfort for the horse, I like it better that way, I'll just invest in some chaps, or I can just wear my tall boots, no problem =) I will work on getting better pictures. thanks guys

Assuming it fits, I would use a rounded skirt western pad with it, one that is not overly long or too thick. I'm thinking half inch or less. Too thick would cause problems, because it doesn't look like this saddle is overly wide on her at all. Remember, if the shoes fit tight already, thicker socks will not help, they'll make it worse.
A square English pad would theoretically work, but most of them would not offer enough padding.

Like WashingotnBay said, they are too close up to tell anything really. I'll be awaitin' new pictures! :D

Hey girl, I do think it is a little wide, it is sitting just like it did on Abby before I purchased a saddle pad. I looked into an air ride berral pad and Abby does very well in it plus it is not very thick at all. The saddle is designed to fit close but not flat so I think it looks ok so far. Remember it is centerfire rigged so get yourself two long latigos Preferably nylon and a girth (I like neoprene). As long as you wear long jeans or some sort of protection around your knee area you should be fine as pintching goes, I did not have any trouble with that. My issues with it was that Abby does a very pogo stick trot and I could not keep my seat very well. It is designed to be almost a "lounger" for a paso fino and my little Appy just is not that smooth.
Try it out and remember if it doesn't work sell it for what you can and put that money towords a saddle of your choice, let me know what you deside and I will help in anyway I can.
Good luck and let me know.

What is a Latigo? sorry, I am not very smart on this stuff, also, would the girth be western or english? thanks =)

With these saddles you really don't need too much padding as it looks like it's already got scalloped felt. But if you think it's too wide you might want to add something and WB's advice with a simple round western pad is the way I'd go.

Well it appears the jury is very much still out on it. :)
I'm looking forward to good pics from the front.

Whitedress, the latigo is part of the western cinching (girthing system) It's a long leather strap you attatch on one side of the saddle to tighten the cinch (the actual girth).
Also the pics you took almost makes the horse look like she's standing on a hill and that may be making the saddle look wide because we can't find an even line. Try taking more of her standing on nice level ground. To me it doesn't LOOK too wide but the saddle doesn't look level, I think because the actual horse isn't standing level.

I will get those pictures tommarow =)
Your right, the ground wasn't very flat, plus she was resting her leg in some. I will get better pictures, lol promise

Yeah I was thinking her leg may be cocked. From looking at the pic I can't see it being any narrower without being too narrow.

Looks like if you put any weight into the saddle the front will sit on his/her withers.

Really long tie straps but unlike a western saddle that only has one on one side of the saddle this one has a really long tie strap on each side, that serpantines through the tie rings and the girth. I use this same rigging option on my saddle too. So if you have any troubles in tieing it let me know and I'll help you out.
