WoW!! So, I was gone for two days out of town and I come back and Muffin is dressed as a woolly mammoth for Halloween!!
Is anyone else's horses getting in there winter coats? Muffin tends to get the thickest coat I have ever seen on a horse in person. It doesn't even snow here but he sure comes prepared! lol I think it's cute when he gets all fuzzy and soft like a big stuffed animal. His coat is so soft and blows in the wind.
I don't look forward to the shedding out in the spring but having the Furminator this year will make it a breeze to get that coat off him when the time comes. Last year I about lost my way in the fur tornado that was flying off him while trying to groom him. I felt like I was in the movie Edward Scissor Hands, when he was giving the poodle a hair cut!
Anyone else getting a fuzzy mammoth for Halloween yet?

My horses are getting fuzzy, but not fuzzy mammoth yet. By the end of November I'm expecting my mammoths to come out. :D

Both mine have been for about 2 weeks. Gotta get a pic of City before his hair gets any thicker.

Mine started to grow in their winter coats last month.. very disappointing! I like summer and the horses' sleek, shiny summer coats. :p

Yep, since September. Days are definitely getting shorter.

What are your guys/gals high/low temps? We just dropped this week but before it was 80's and 60's. Now it's 60's and 40's I think. It got cold this week all of a sudden then in a few days it's supposed to warm back up to 80 days again for a little while. The weather is weird around here and one day it's chilly, breezy and winter. The next it's 80's sunny and nice. Muffin better hold off on growing in his full coat or he is going to be mad at the end of the week when it's mid 80 for a few days.

Love's getting pretty fuzzy too. For a while it was in the 40s at night and around 60 during the day. But all of a sudden it got warm again—60 at night 75 or more during the day. I'm not complaining but she is!

Right now we go from 50s to 75 or so, but it gets dark by 6:30pm and is pitch black until 7am. We almost had a frost the other night though, but then it warmed up for this weekend.
Heck, last year when I was looking for horses in late October, it was 80s and the poor horses were dying because they had winter coats.

Ours started fluffing up a couple weeks ago. At least Bay and the pony did. Cyn never grows a coat.
Sniff... summer came and went so fast this year.

Berma is defiantly getting a little hair, but Ickabod doesn't have as much. It has been warmer lately. But I can see the winter fuzzies coming in. I am gonna miss summer, but I like fall :)

Mia has been all fuzzed up in the mornings, but Charlie doesn't grow such a thick coat as she does. They started growing them a month or so ago, I think--I'd start thinking she was getting fat (well, she is, but not as badly as I'd think!) but it was just her coat.
Ah yes, the joys of spring shedding.....something to look forward to on those cold, windy, snowy winter days!!!

I noticed about a week and a half ago that Koko was getting fuzzier, altho she isn't quite as fuzzed-up as some of the other horses were. It's been kind of a warm October for us so far, but today the temps went from 71 this morning to about 55 right now....so I think our warm spell is going bye-bye. :(

Same here. Growing more hair for the last two weeks. Everything is pointing to a cold winter this year. We have had frost once but it's been pretty warm for this time of year in general.

Even in Florida (central) they are growing in their coats, and we still have 90 degree days.

it started a few weeks ago & getting thicker every day here~even though it's been in the 80's. the worst part is they sweat so easy now. I expect the temp to drop anyday though, probably in the span of 5 minutes and to stay cold for the next 5 months. while I dread the cold wind & ice at least it will kill off the d*** mosquitoes & little pirate bugs though!

Mine usually get theirs in mid September and they really fluff out towards the end of the October

LOL..sorry WB but I am GLAD summer is over! Now we can actually go riding here! I just turned off my A/C yesterday and opened the windows. I still have to kick it on during the afternoon, but it is nice to finally sleep with the windows open.
Ladybird is starting to get her winter coat, but my other 2 are still nice and slick.
