So, a guy facing death sentence in Ohio, is asking for a stay, saying he is TOO FAT to be able to be executed by lethal injection...arguing.....they won't be able to find his veins(I can!). And, as if that is not enough, it's the prisons fault he is too fat, their food made him fatter than he was when he entered prison.

Hey - we have a guy on death row here who is still alive because he is so fat they fear he will lose his head if they hang him, and that would be cruel and unusual.
Of course, we also have lethal injection available, but unless he chooses that, the law says he'll be hung, and he won't choose.

Puahahah!
Next thing you know, he'll win the lottery then sue the prison system!
If he's too fat for lethal injection...how about hanging? Or beheading? or the electric chair?

Technically yes, we have it as an option. Or they can choose lethal injection (In WA). Most who face it choose that so it's been quite a long time since we have hung anyone.

Wow! I did not know that!!! So I guess if you're a really fat killer you'll get out of dying? I know a good horse vet that can find the vein on anything!

And what options did their victims have? This is one of those subjects that really get me going.

So, losing his head would be more "cruel" than hung by the neck until dead? I'd think it would be at least as quick. With a hanging there is always the chance that the neck doesn't snap and it takes a while. I bet it wouldn't be any worse than the reason he is there in the first place!

-oh - I guess our guy died of natural causes already... on death row... I guess I missed that.
Inmate too heavy to hang dies in Walla Walla prison (http://dwb.thenewstribune.com/news/local/story/5512175p-4967216c.html)
He killed a couple bank tellers right here in my home town, during a robbery.

I'm a little conflicted about lethal injection as a method of execution. I mean... it doesn't have to be violent to do the job, but lethal injection does make it seem a little too medical. I mean... he's not a beloved old pet.

Steve- I'm with you! I've always thought that, if our kids grew up seeing "bad guys" being hung in the streets with a big crowd a watchin', they might think twice before they do something bad themselves.

When I was in grade school, I had some pretty serious behaviour problems. In 5th grade, I got caught doing something really stoopid, and ended up getting paddled. The way our school did it was, everyone was in the classrooms, and all the doors were open to the hallway. The paddling occurred in the hallway....you could not be seen, but you could definatly be heard. When the punishment was over, you had to walk past all those open doors and back into your classroom, and face all the "looks", "snickers" , etc. I NEVER wanted that to happen to me again, and I walked the straight and narrow from then on. Sure turned me around !

It's amazing how the MEDIA chooses what to show and what not to show. Heck...if more kids actually SAW what could happen to them if they broke the law...they might reconsider.

...since it might take a while- this is why the law reads "untill dead" perhaps.

Glad somebody found a vein on him...just because one is fat doesn't necessarily mean that you can't find a vein on them.
I'm sure he didn't show the same consideration to his victim...
