The days were switched and I was unable to be there but my BO and another one of my friend/boarder was there. Cabo, I guess needed it really bad.
THe Chiropractor's name is Greg Neuman and he is pretty hard to get a hold of. Has anyone ever used him or heard of him? Based on what I have heard, he adjusts horses all over the midwest and has made a good and reputable name for himself. He has been adjusting one of the boarders horses for over 10 years and she swears by him.
He said my horse was pretty outta whack...the BO said Cabo was cracking and licking his lips which the Chiropracter said is what they do...it is releasing endorphins and they have a positive reaction to it???
So...what are your experiences with having your horse adjusted and what should I expect in the next few days? Greg said not to ride him for a few days and just start out slow because Cabo will be sore.

He will feel good and might be a little naughty if he was really out of whack. My boy felt absolutely fantastic after he was first adjusted, he floated. We lunged for a couple of days to let him stretch out well and then rode as usual.

It depends on what was out. Usually you'll see more forward horses, more impulsion, and more relaxed horses.
Some horses build up compensatory muscle around the areas that are out and they have a habit of pulling stuff back out. These cases sometimes need weekly adjustments for a couple months and a specialized "rehab" program to help them rebalance their muscles so they stop popping back out. It's just an FYI so don't freak out, but don't be surprised if he pops back out.

Thanks! The thing is I didn't really think he was that off. He has never shown any signs of discomfort...he was always a little off bending to the left but nothing that some stretching and lunging didn't work him thru. My friend said that after the Chiropractor was done he let out a big sigh and put his head down. I will get to see him tomorrow....I really hope he feels better!

Make sure for the next week or so you warm him up, cool him down and stretch really well, don't fight him on anything. You mention lunging, and that's one of the common denominators in displacement in the neck.

Will do! I will take it easy on him...he is my baby after all!
I appreciate all the extra help and suggestions...I have known him for less than a year and it is still such a learning experience!

Melissa, as you know, I also have Gregg. I love him. I could not get Dixie to pick up her left lead for months unless we did a figure 8. After Gregg came, he fixed her left shoulder and hip, both were out. She was able to successfully pick up her left lead a week after I could start riding her again. And also, when you do start riding him again, work you way slowly back into collection. Keep it long and low for a while. :D
Chiropractors do amazing things! :) My horse's back was all out a few weeks ago, and she wouldn't pick up a canter in either direction. She now canters beautifully... when she wants to. :(

I second everything everyone has already said. Expect Cabo to possibly be sore for the next couple of days and of course no riding for roughly a week.

Cloe's chiropractor said the same thing and it really worked! She was an absolute brat when being adjusted and massaged (she needed it really badly, though), she reared twice, kicked out several times and boy, what fun that was! Lol, but anyways, she was really locked up in her hips and when he was working on one of her back legs she would not stop trying to kick out and he wouldn't stop trying to re-adjust that area until she licked her lips...like three tries later she finally did and looked *much* more content.

Melissa, how much did you pay for that? PM me if you'd rather not say that publically....I know some people prefer to be discreet. :)
The reason I ask is I'm interested in checking this guy out and seeing what he could do for Rebel. Is this guy based in Columbus? Rebel was adjusted about 3 weeks ago and his back was pretty out of whack too...he's still stiff, but I'm sure that's just working and not being used to it yet. But either way, I'd appreciate some info on this guy!
