Awwh, thanks so much guys!!!
The medicine is kicking in so it isn't hurting as much... but I have NEVER, EVER been in that much pain in my entire life. :(
Anyways, bear with me as I try and trype this. Haha.
Okay so I took Tanner out of his pasture and took him in his stall and brushed him. I hopped on him bareback for like 15 minutes and then put him back out in the pasture with his buddy, Bob. So I took off Tanners halter and he went over to the huge water bucket thing and got a drink. Bob was a good distance away from me (like 15 feet?). The electric fence was not on. Aspen, the new horse at the barn leaned over the fence and bit Bob in the face, just as I began shutting the gate . Bob was so mad, he pinned his ears and backed up as fast as he could and let out a huge kick. I had no time to react, I didn't even realize what was going to happen. He got my wrist which hit off the gate, which hit off my hip and then my hip took the full blow and I was launched at lest 10 feet back. I didn't even realize what had happened so I slid back over to the gate and kicked it shut and did the latch up with one hand. I layed their and just cried for 5 minutes and I just kept looking over at Tanner and he was pushing up against the gate and just stairing at me, and that made me get more upset. So I forgot I had my cell phone & I "crawled"/slid through the barn, across the gravel and up to the house. I was taken care of from then on... lol.

thank goodness you will at least have the forum for entertainment for the 12 ridingless weeks :(
its funny the things we do out of habit even in a situation like that such as closing the gate
did you have to scoot far to get people's attention b/c that seems like it would be the most painful?
did the ambulance come or were you just taken into the emergency room?
make sure you take the good drugs they give you, they will make you feel oh so good

And oh man all that sounds like it hurts!! I think more horse injuries happen at gates to pastures than anywhere else!!! I was kicked in the head and hip at one and cracked my skull!! I was lucky my horse was lead mare because she turned on the horse that was going after me and drove her off. I was never certain if Gidget did that for me or because that mare was too close to her in general. I'd like to think it was for me!! Sounds like Tanner would have had your back too. Big hugs!!!

Oh dear.....
Hope you have a quick recovery. Please take the full 12 weeks off, it is important to heal properly like others said and it is very critical to take it easy for the next 6 months at least. That is how long it takes for new bone to grow and become stable. Once that bone starts growing in to heal the fractures, you will feel it. It is the weirdest feeling, hard to explain. You are young and should heal quickly but if you do not let it heal correctly, you may have problems as you age.
Good luck.......healing thoughts coming your way.................

Well, I didn't want to tell you last night, but when I broke my arm and it was casted, that first night it started to swell inside the cast and it was excruciating! We actually had to return to the ER so they could cut the cast. The swelling pressure had nowhere to go and I really wanted to just cut it off... the arm, not the cast! If that's what an abscess inside a hoof feels like, I really feel for the horse.
But it passed. And I healed. And it seemed like a long time, but not in the long run. Take care and it'll be over before you know it.

Yowsie Pete!
I'm glad you got out of that one still alert and breathing. My carriage boss, who is also a farrier, got kicked about a year and a half ago while shoeing a horse. He doesn't remember the kick, anything about that day, or anything for a few weeks afterward. He took a shot to the head--they were doing CPR on him at the scene, and he was on a ventilator for a day. Thank God someone knew enough to start life support immediately, or he wouldn't be here today.
There's an awful lot of power in those feet...
Hope you heal quickly and have no residual effects.

Oh no, I just saw this thread now.....that has to be so painful. I hope you heal up soon, just rest up and take it easy. Glad you weren't hurt worse, but what happened sure was bad enough.
