A Horse that's in front of your leg (forward) or stuck behind your leg (lazy)?
I prefer a horse in front of my leg, because generally I get along with them better (lolll sunny's a slow guy though!) and I find it a lot easier/safer to find distances on them/jump them.

Well, I like a pokey horse. :) But I am just a trail rider.

Hmm :/ depends, really. I don't mind a lazy horse, but I prefer one that bucks, to give me some energy to work with, otherwise my thighs just ACHE too much!

Then again, with forward horses my arms ache too much :/ but I prefer jumping forward horses.

I think overall I prefer forward horses - more fun imo, unless THEY buck, which is BAD - but lazy horses I can cope with quite happily ^_^

I used to like the goers, but now, not so much. I dont like lazy though, I guess in between would be what I like.

I think I am just about the only younger person who prefers a lazy horse. :D

I very much prefer a horse I have to hold back, over one I have to prod on, assuming the horse is just exuberant, not out of control.

If Bay's not dancing in place when we stop, I assume there's something wrong with him.

I feel the same as that. :)

It really depends on what I'm doing at the time. If I'm doing performance and or going on a trail ride and stuff, I want a pokey horse, but if I'm doing games or want to go and gallop in the feild, I defs don't wnat a lazy horse! lol

I like a faster/hyper horse. I prefer them but they have to have sence at the same time

I like something you have to hold back, but to an extent.. Not something that's out of control and feels like it will explode at any second.

I used to get so annoyed because April was the slowest of the slow. She just moseyed along.. step... step... step... step...

Don't worry Gazette, i'm with you on the lazy horses.:D I don't know, but i just seem to get along better with the lazier horses and can get more out of them than other people can.

"Don't get on till you see the white's of their eyes!" lol :D I like em HOT HOT HOT. You know right on that border of where they will walk, but only if you make them.

I recently read an article on making cross country jumping safer. One of the pros in the article said that most of the injury's from refusals are from horses that are behind the leg to begin with. He said that it's much easier to read a forward horse and what they're gonna do when they're forward.

I like 'em slower. I think its that fear thing for me. If they are speedy, I am afraid I'll lose them at any moment. Now I realize that is not always the case. A well trained horse should be forward but under control. But its my "thing"

More in front than behind but really I like a horse who's sensitive...if they're lazy and sensitive, that works just as well as the others. Dixie is a little bit on the lazy side here and there but she's sensitive, she responds and even though it might take a little bit more sometimes, she will respond with reasonably light pressure.

Definitely forward. I like to have some impulsion to work with. But I've ridden enough that try to suck back behind your leg as much as possible that I can ride both equally well. I usually don't get a choice anyways. But if I did, I'd pick forward.

I prefer to ride one I have to hold back. I prefer to teach with one that is lazy.

I prefer the forward horse. My husband's horse is lazy.
Crystal was always "on the go". She is not any more, I made her back up everytime she was too fast, she doesn't do it any more.
It's easier for me to teach the horse to move "my" speed if it feels like moving. Besides I'm a fast moving person - I just do not like lazy anything lol.

I prefer a horse that knows how to walk (I guess plod) along calmly when asked, but happily gives me speed when lightly asked as well. I don't want to have to push the horse forward nor do I want to hold them back.

I cannot stand lazy horses! lol
Hence why Tanner's the perfect match for me hahaha.

I like something with bounds of energy but that is safe. That way, especially at a rising trot, you feel nice and springy, unlike a dull horse when you keep kicking and kicking and are still in a jog. I like Blue, he could have a little more energy, but that's okay!

My gelding is very lazy and it can be annoying to ride. He bucks but it's not because of energy, it's because he is protesting the work I am asking him to do! He doesn't like to trot to fast, canter, jump or anything else that takes a lot of effort. My mares have a lot more go and are much more fun to ride, as long as they aren't being crazy (usually they aren't).

I like forward-moving, long strided horses. I don't like horses that you constantly have to pedal. That's lazy and unresponsive. I like something that..if I ask it to do a certain gait, it will stay there until I cue for something else and it goes at whatever pace I ask it to without protest.

I personally always like the speed demons. I would rather slow a horse down anyday then continue and continue to encourage it to go faster. And I also find the goers in my experience more willing and wanting to learn.

That is why I love my little nutty mare.
