Well when I saw WB's Feral Kitty Thread that made me start thinking about adopting yet another kitty. I thought my man would say he didn't think it was a good idea but he was fine with it. I needed a long haired kitty because I'm very allergic to short haired ones. Long haired are pretty hard to find in this area.

After missing out on a few [They had been adopted, good for them, bad for me] I finally contacted a rescue lady about Molly. That was 6 weeks ago I think. The rescue lady was having health issues and so was her mother so she wasn't doing adoptions. I had a choice wait or move on. When I saw Molly's picture I had to wait. She isn't the flashiest kitty but there is something about her that called out to me and I had to wait for her. She was trapped at a Feral Cat Colony and is around 5 months old.

We picked her up on Sunday. She is sort of scared but not too scared. She met Noah today and is not happy with him. If he doesn't look at her she's sort of OK but if he dares look at her she hisses and carries on. She slept with me last night, that's progress. I think we'll be OK but we are taking things very slow. She's living in the sunroom now and it looks a mess with all of her toys and tissues she's drug around so please excuse the mess in the photos. I'm not sure when she'll meet the other kitties, not for awhile I guess, not 'til she's totally comfortable in the sunroom. One picture she looks really mad, I took that after I put Noah out of the room!

Her favorite toy, the stick end of a big long feather thing!

Molly says Thank You. I am scared I messed things up by bringing the dog in. She was alot more active yesterday, since Noah came in she has been under the couch more and isn't wanting to play too much. She has to get used to him I thought I was doing it right but I guess she's mad at me. If anyone has any ideas I'm open to suggestions!!!! I put a shirt in here that I wore and that he slept on then I put her in her carrier so she could see him, I then took her out of the carrier and held her, she seemed fine as long as he didn't look at her but now she's acting like I'm going to bring him in the room again and she's nervous. he loves cats he didn't do anything threatening at all.

Yesterday she was more curious than she is today. I think this is going to take awhile to get her totally comfortable. If she was younger it might not have taken so long, I really hoped to get her weeks ago but things didn't work out because of the girl's mother's stroke and the girl's illness.

I do love her so much. It's funny every time I've set out to get a cat for the last 12 yrs I set out to get a black one, I never end up with a black one because another needs me! She is fun, I love those ear tufts! She is part Maine Coon but I don't think she'll get as fuzzy, she does have big paws and tufts there and ear tufts but her hair isn't as long as a MC's. It doesn't really matter there is just something about her that made me feel like she should be mine, I had the same feeling with her as I did with Jack and Bo and they have been so special.

Oh I wish I had the camera, she is sitting in the little peddle car looking out the window. SO CUTE! When she first saw the horses from the window her eyes got huge like "What are those big things?"!!!!

I think they'll come around... just takes time. Try to control the access to the dog to short successful times together and then give her a break for awhile.

I think as long as the dog doesn't harass her all she needs is time. She's gone through a huge amount of changes recently and she needs time to realize this is "home" and relax. I bet she'll be racing around like a crazy beast in no time!

The other option is to move her into her own room for a few days so she can smell everybody and hear what's going on without being in the middle of it all. As her confidence grows give her more places to explore and open up her territory.

Thanks everyone. She is closed off in our sunroom so she can get comfortable in there and not have alot of activity around her. She can see through the door but there is a door there. The other cats can see her but can't get to her. I brought Noah in for maybe 5 minutes. I figure if I do that every day maybe eventualy she will know he won't hurt her. He's scared of her, he's never had a kitty hiss at him before, his feelings were hurt! She is cute. She's had alot of changes, she was spayed last Wed. so that was added stress too besides a new home and a big doggy. The girl I got him from has a huge dog but I guess she doesn't let him socialize with the foster kitties. It might be a good idea if she did. Thanks again!

She is quite a beauty :) I know the last time I brought a cat in the house I thought he would never relax. Took some time, but he is fine now :)

I don't think I posted this photo, this is the one that started it all. I wish I could have gotten her when she was this little but things happened and we had to wait for what seemed like forever. That little face just called to me and I had to put an application in for her!

Actually, I do think you did post that pic- just not on horse.com.

Molly's a beautiful cat- she definitely looks Maine Coon. There's no way to know if Junior is purebred, either, but he also has all the characteristics, lol!

You may end up with a longer haired kitty yet- I remember Junior's coat was a little shorter until he got his adult coat- guess you'll have to wait and see!

I'm so glad you were finally able to get her- you've been waiting a long time!

Congrats on your new kitty. She sure is pretty. I am sure with a little time she will settle right in.
