I found this little girl online. I am looking for a pack horse that is not big. Is a haffie a good choice. It needs to be able to pack 200-300lbs. Can they pull a bugy? She is also now only $500 obo. I thought that was a great price.

haffies are so great they were bred for mountains....consequently...the only problem they have is that they can think of food and gain weight.....
they have good personalities...can carry loads....pull carts...but they are super for kids...and really....everyone to ride....

Ahahahahaha!
They are truly air ferns. Mitch gets just grass hay. And still looks like he's becoming a plumper pumpkin every day.
Ariesgrl131, 3Equines has a Haffie she uses as a pack pony. They could probably pack about 200 lbs pretty easily, and maybe 300 depending how big they were. Buggy pulling, sure! Mitch was a professional carriage pony and used to pull wedding carriages.
Best lil horses in the world, in my opinion.
Given her price, I say go get her!

Absolutley!! I'd grab her up in a second if I could lol. Haffies (like the others have said) are excellent family horses/pack horses/cart horses. I worked with one Haffie in 2007 and sold him for the stable I was riding for (they didn't have the time to put into him). He was so gentle and fun. I sold him to a little 5 year old girl, and she now shows him in leadline (and often places first lol). So cute! But back to the main topic...as long as she's sound and healthy I think it's a good match for what your looking for.

i have 2 haflingers - for 10 years now - and they truly can 'do it all':) VERY easy keepers....mine are still chubby gettin' grass only hay and vitamin supplement...forget free choice hay, i weigh their portions and they get no more then 1 1/2% of their weight per day, divided into 3 feedings...
they are supper loveable ponies and easy to train....$500 sounds like a great deal:cowboy:
If she is $500, most definately a deal! Heck the haflinger I am getting this Thursday is 5 years old, unhandled and I am gladely paying $400 for him!
And as others have already said - they can do it all. Pack, pull, and ride - including adults. My current haflinger is only 13.3 hands and I know he has carried over 275 lbs before and had no problems. That one photoed looks to be nice and stocky - so there should be no problems for what you want to do.
Now with that said, here is my diclaimer. There is now a trend that breeders are going for a more "modern" and "refined" look and sadly some have taken it to the extreme. I highly doubt one of those modern haflingers could pack 200-300 lbs. You *might* be lucky to get them to comfortably carry 200 lbs, plus they are leaner so they no longer take up the leg on a taller adult like the stockier ones do. So I no longer say ALL haflingers can do it all, but a good majority of them can.
