which would you get??

I am having a problem deciding...

I looked at a 2003 Exiss LQ today. Very clean and everything works. Only problem is I have 2 kids and 3 dogs and there is only room for 3 people to sleep in it.

The other trailer I have been planning on getting is not a LQ, but it is insulated and paneled on the inside, so I could add things as I want. And there is plenty of room right now for everyone to sleep in it, including the dogs. (2 lg Dobermans and 1 minpin) I also have ALL camping equipment.

So I am torn on what to do. I like the LQ, but the living area just seems small. Aside from that the only difference is the LQ does not have an escape door and the new trailer does.

Anyway, here are pics of the two trailers...

First the LQ...here's the link to the pics...

i would go with the exiss. You can always put a window unit in the drop down windows or open the door to the horse part if it has a door....and put an air matress or cots in where the horses go( after its clean of course).

Have you seen the Exiss other than in the pics? Im wondering why they dont show the pass side of the trailer. Lots of driver side?
As far as which one to buy, well, IF I was taking your dogs with you every time, or alot of the time, I dont think the Exiss would be the pick for me, and I dont like that there is not an excape door.
In your situation, I would buy the new one, the hard part is done, you have insulation. Get potty quarters and water ASAP though.

The newer one without true "livingquarters", is a new version of what my cousin had. They always slept 4-6 people in there with 3 or 4 big dogs, 4-6 saddles, bridles, etc... and never had an issue. Things were squished, but we had fun. :)

He actually put a mattress on that top part (queen sized, I think, maybe a full) and he'd shove all the kids up there (2, 4... sometimes 6 of us) and he'd sleep outside just in a sleeping bag, unless it was raining - then he'd sleep in the floor of the tack room with "the women". :D

Vick..I have seen the "new" one...several times and I saw the Exiss yesterday...LOL I spent 2 hours looking at it and drooling...

ALOFK... I am NOT sleeping on the floor with my back...LOL If anyone is sleeping in that top bunk it will be me and everyone else can fend for themselves...LOL

And price difference....well, I can get the LQ for less than the new one.

I would go for the LQ and let everyone else fend for themselves with tents or the back! LOL!!

I would go for the LQ. It's perfectly comfortable and fine sleeping in the back where the horses were trailered. I did that when we went to Mohican. We had a tent and everything but it was so cold so they opened the door between the LQ and horse trailer so the heat would come through. We were nice, warm, and cozy!

Honestly, I think those little extra things are really nice once you have them ;)

i would probably get the LQ one since it's pretty much all set up. the kids should be old enough soon to maybe set up a tent and tent it out, maybe? we always had fun camping in tents as kids. but that way if the weather is bad or whatever, you have the camper and could make it work.

i just like that it already has a bathroom and a sink, etc.

What are you looking to spend? I have silverlite and Thuro-built on my lot here in las vegas (I work for Carson trailer). What are the options on the trailer you like, along with the asking price I can do some appraisal comparisons for you to see if you are getting a good deal. Just let me know if I can be of any help.

I thought shipping was up to 500 miles.
It is, I went and looked, but only for certain ones.
Id check on shipping per trailer if you buy there.
AWESOME deals.

Since you've already made your decision my two cents isn't worth two cents. If I were looking for a new trailer I would ask myself what I was going to be doing the most with it. If it is camping or camping at horse shows I would go with LQ. If most of the use would be day trips to and from trails or shows then I'd go with the other.

I have a large tack room in my goose neck. So I put a big queen size mattress up on the top and throw other camp stuff inside. I've thought about having a tent made that I can snap to the door so if there are extra people they can sleep in the tent. I slept on the ground, in tents, in and on tanks and helicopters for a lot of years (army). I have determined that a bed and a bathroom trump all other considerations if I'm sleeping anywhere other than home.

Can't wait to see the pics.

I'm a little late but will throw my 2 cents in anyway.:) Both trailers look good but I'd go with the Exiss. The table should fold down into a bed (at least they did in all of the trailers we looked at) & the outside awning is a big plus for me.
We bought a 3-horse Exiss with a LQ 'shell' a couple of years ago. Now I really wish we had gotten the finished one....

I wish I could help with used, but the Carson I work for is a factory direct store not a dealer. But there are dealers al over the west coast. I will only be with this company for about 3 more months though. However if you can find a store or dealer and just need a good solid trailer with no frills, look into Thuro-bilt by Roseburg trailers out of Oregon. I own one and it is awsome. They don't make LQ trailers though.

Ps CG43 you are getting an AWSOME deal!!!!

I would take the LQ but that is me. But if you need the room you have to buy what fits you. I do like them both.

Vicki....The LQ is used. Goofy lady... It's a 2004. Those Dixie trailers are nice, but they only accomodate sleeping in the bunk, and don't have a dining table. I am VERY picky about things when it comes to campers/LQ's. I haven't found one set up the way I like or for a price I could afford.

LOL...depends on what you are looking for. You posted a link to one of the new Dixie trailers that I thought was a good price, just not set up the way I would want it...;)
