How do you make an avatar???
WashingtonBay
10-04-2008, 01:21 PM
Click "User CP" at the top of this page, then "Edit Avatar". All your other preferences and settings can be modified there too. Size constraints are the same for avatars as they were at horse.com so your old one from horse.com should fit.

No can do. It just says "no avatar selected" and the dot that says "do not use avatar" is selected with no other options.
WashingtonBoy
10-04-2008, 01:27 PM
Oops, sorry about that! The upload options should now be enabled.

Ha ha, I hope there aren't too many problems! You guys really did do a very nice job. Did you make the banner at the top of the forum?

Ya - that's Bay's gaping maw.;)

There are SO many cool options here! I can't think of anything you guys haven't already thought of.
I didn't know Mr. WB was a computer guy! Well done you guys!

Ha ha! You got skillz, it looks great! I was curious, is there anyway to tell if another user is online/offline?
WashingtonBay
10-04-2008, 02:31 PM
Yeah, the little red man on your posts goes grey or black when you log out.

I'm open to suggestions on what topics to create...
Maybe I'll post another thread for that.

I think that'd be a great idea, then you can get a variety of suggestions in one thread.
WashingtonBay

I probably will soon...
Today, we're as busy as one-armed paper hangers just keeping up with the current to-do list and any unexpected issues that crop up... but we are thinking about the issue.
WashingtonBay
10-04-2008, 03:02 PM
If you click the user name on a thread or anywhere, one of the options is to send a Private Message.
cloedoll
10-04-2008, 03:02 PM
Hope you don't mind me answering Cat's question, WB. You ust click on whoever username you want to send a PM to, then some options pop up and you click "Send a private message to username here."
Edit: You beat me to it, lol!
Dangg, I love this vBulletin system!
WashingtonBay
10-04-2008, 03:03 PM
Heh... no - go ahead... when you start beating me to it with better answers all the time, I'll just make you a moderator. :D
Maybe that is the problem - I click on the name and nothing happens and my pop-up blocker is shut off. Any suggestions?
cloedoll
10-04-2008, 03:05 PM
Hah! Just to make your day harder, I got another question for you. I know whenever you search for Horse.com's forum in a search engine (MSN, Google, etc.) the site comes up, does Baywind Farm's forum come up? I tried and got nothing, but maybe I'm typing it wrong? Lol.
WashingtonBay
10-04-2008, 03:06 PM
You don't see a drop down menu? hmmmm.
On edit - wait... hold on, we just opened it in IE and see it's an IE issue. We'll look into that and get back to you.
Nope, nothing. The only thing I was just able to do is right click and "open link" and it will take me to the profile. But nothing drops down. Maybe my pop-up is still causing problems some how.
Cloedoll - its too new to show up on the searches yet.
cloedoll
10-04-2008, 03:11 PM
Cat - I would temporarily disable your pop-up blocker and try again, or allow pop-ups from this site? Worth a shot! xD
Cloedoll - its too new to show up on the searches yet.
Ahh, that would make sense. :D
Thats the thing, I did disable my pop-up blocker and its still not working, but am wondering if it could still somehow cause a problem...

Hehe, I knew that. :o I don't think it would, I have a butt ton of pop-up blockers (school's computer) and I just disable 'em all and ta-da! I hope you get the problem figured out soon. (:

Hey Cat, WB said it's an IE problem. I'm using IE and have the same problem.
WashingtonBay
10-04-2008, 03:18 PM
It's some kind of issue with IE... I had the same trouble and so did he in IE, but not in Firefox. Hubby's looking into it and we'll get it figured out.
cloedoll
10-04-2008, 03:30 PM
Sorry if this is already mentioned, but on this (http://baywindfarm.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17) thread Pinky posted pictures and I can't see them. FredRock and Cat could and from this thread I know they use IE, I use Mozilla. Is this another issue or is my computer just spazztic? :p
WashingtonBay
10-04-2008, 03:37 PM
Huh - I can see them, and I'm Mozilla.
Can you see the pictures on the this one? Blue and I at our first show! (http://baywindfarm.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11)
cloedoll
10-04-2008, 03:38 PM
Now, that's just odd. I could see those pictures earlier today, but now can't. I am sure it is something to do with my computer settings, not the forum. My luck! :D
WashingtonBay
10-04-2008, 03:41 PM
Well, it would be lucky for us if that's true. ;)
Hubby's already scratching his head over Cat's issue.
cloedoll
10-04-2008, 03:49 PM
Aww, I'm sorry. I hope you guys get it figured it out soon...
YOU CAN DO IT! :D
WashingtonBay
10-04-2008, 03:58 PM
Well, he thinks he fixed the Cat issue (try it Cat!) but he had to undo some of the customizations we'd already done, that's why the headers are now running across the top instead of down the side, and it broke the logo. But he's working now on fixing ~that~.
FredRock
10-04-2008, 03:59 PM
Hey WB, I had the problem that Cat did and it works for me now! It's pretty sweet, btw. Bravo!

cloedoll
10-04-2008, 04:09 PM
I am slow, I didn't notice the two menu bars...why did ya mention it?! Lol. Oh well, at least these problems will be fixed and you respond to us...unlike a certain forum...*cough*... xD

Whew! OK, the popup menus should now be working IE.

Yup, click User CP on the top nav bar, then click Edit Signature. To get the image to show up, either put image tags around the url - url - or click the image button and paste the url in.

That's what I'm working on next. It may take up to a week or two for the site to even be listed in the search engines, though.
Looks like its working for me now too - Thank you!

What about a chat room?
WashingtonBay
10-05-2008, 02:23 PM
There was a chat thingy people used at horse.com that worked really well... wiggly or something like that? (I know that's not right but it was like that! ;)). It works anywhere.
We can at least post a link on how to do that.
cloedoll
10-05-2008, 02:26 PM
Here is a link that would be this forum's chat place.
http://gabbly.com/baywindfarm.com
Should I make a separate thread for it? Or does someone want to? Lol.

Gabbly! I was close! Sure, cloe! If you start it, I'll sticky it. :D

That'll be terrific when you get the YouTube video thingy going; I got a little video camera that came with an Arcsoft program that works with YouTube. I'm still not too handy with all the computer stuff so videos and "right-clicking" and jumping pages and so on make me more nuts than I already am. This site style does seem to be pleasantly easy to use though; just needs a little more 'furniture', as it were. Oh, and good company to sit in it! My hat's off to you WB, this must be a fair bit of work...
cloedoll
10-05-2008, 02:30 PM
Heh, okay! I'll post it under "Off Topic." :)
Just something fun...maybe we could have names for how many posts we had like on the H.com forum? Like Foal, Weanling, Yearling..., Grand Champion, etc. But not that, something fresh, and new (like our new forum! lol).

I agree, names are always fun. They give you something to strive for.
WashingtonBay
10-06-2008, 09:24 PM
Huh! We'll we'll think about making our names more fun... I think we just went with "New Member" "Member" at 100 and I think "Senior Member" at 500...

Can we get some basic rules on the flea market.
It is irritating as heck to see links or just descriptions.
If your gonna trade or sell, get pics of what you have.
I for one will not search ones list cause they were to lazy to post a pic.
I know on other boards pics are a rule, and not pics of a simular item, but the item you have for sale/trade.
WashingtonBay
10-07-2008, 11:15 AM
OK - I've looked, and I'm not sure I'm ready to make it a rule, but I agree, it's better marketing to have good clear pictures of what you are selling... and embedded too, not links.
Don't make people go on a treasure hunt to see a picture of what you're selling.
