I'm going to be boarding Auda at my work for a month starting this week. :) I'm pretty excited. It's gotten so muddy and slippery at home all I can do without ripping up my good pastures is trail ride, and I need to do more than that with Auda. I've taken her to work twice and she was a total butt the last time. She just stood there and was ignoring all my cues which tells me I'm not working her enough. At my work there's a really nice indoor arena and a trail course plus being able to interact with lots of different horses and people which will be REALLY good for her. I also hate using my new saddle at home because it's so new and shiny I don't want to get it all muddy. :D
Well that's all. I'm excited, thought I'd share. :)

Haha! Are you getting a nice discount on her board? Have fun with the new saddle in the indoor - I know you're in WA, but maybe things will dry up a bit soon. :)

I'm actually in Oregon, but only 2 hours from WA, so we're practically the same place :)
I'm getting a huge discount. :) Full care is normally $325 but she's only charing me $125. I've also been welcome to use the arena anytime I want for free, and keep them there for the day for no charge. It's a really good barn. The BO is so nice and the atmosphere is just so mellow. Everyone is so chill, you just walk in you get this great relaxed calming feeling.

I meant Oregon, honest! :D
That's wonderful, totally how I want my barn to be. :)

Because my thread is just swarming with posts I thought you'd all be dying for an update:rolleyes:
Auda left today. The BO said she wasn't going to charge me a dime! That's feed and bedding included. So basically I get to ride my horse in a fancy indoor arena for a whole month and won't have to spend any money on her at all!!
She's been SO bad lately. I've never seen this side of her. She's really, really testy and lazy. Today she did really well... mostly. We lunged, then I rode her walk/trot and she did good for about a half hour, then we'd be trotting and she'd fall back to a walk and wouldn't want to go again. Then she'd stop and stare at something outside and wouldn't want to move. My legs are killing me from all the squeezing I did today. She did her first actual bad thing ever today: she bolted. She's bolted before when she spooks, but this was a bolt in the "I'm going to run away and there's nothing you can do about it muahaha" way. So after about 45 minutes of her crap I got her to do three laps of a decent trot where she didn't try to wander away from the rail or stop, then I let her be done. She is going to get worked HARD this month to say the least. Because of the mud I'd only been working her once a week which is most definitely where this sluggish behavior came from. She's enjoying her vacation I suppose :D

Haha sounds like Auda and Niko are sharing secrets :D She is pretty needing to get some good constructive work. How's your saddle?

Haha no kidding. I think her and Darwin have been talking across the isle telling each other good ways to piss off the owners  I didn't ride in the saddle today. She's a little uncomfortable about it still and I wanted today's ride to be super pleasant. So much for that idea.... I'll ride in it tomorrow, though. It was SUPER comfy when I rode in it last time though. It's a great saddle.

The barn owner does adore me and she tells me everyday how important I am to the barn. It's a nice feeling to know you're truly appreciated at the place you work. :)
