For the last few weeks, I've thought my dog, Susie, a Jack Russell, has been off. She'll be fine one day, and then seem very quiet, act's like she's trying to poop but doesn't, but when she does, it seems normal. She also has had a few days when she didn't eat normal...and that really is something for her. Just about the time I'd think it was time to go to the vet, she'd have a great day and seemed fine. I was at first thinking it was just her adjusting to us moving, and her missing home and the country.

I do go out to the house everyday to feed a horse, and take her with me. I've been hanging around there so she could run around some.

Sat. I finally said enough, and took her in. She had gone to bed on Fri at about 8, and at 9 on Sat morning she was still not wanting to get up.

She has a bladder infection:(, and seemed pretty tender in her abdomon area. She has now been on meds since then, and yesterday I couldn't believe how much better she acted...wanted to play fetch and tug-a-war with her rope, ran around the park...seemed her old self. Amazing how fast meds work. A bladder infection was just not what I was expecting, but I'm glad that's all it is, altho the vet said, if could be stones. We'll have to watch how she does.

Well, I hope it's not stones, just because that's such a big ordeal. We battled it with a cat. It sounds like though, if she feels better already, that it might have just been an infection.

Does the medicine make her pee blue? I've had one bladder infection in my time, and the medicine made my pee bright blue. Not sure if they use the same drug to treat it in dogs.

Glad she is doing better, it's so scary when our little four-legged friends get ill.

Thanks:) Yeah, it has been something I've had on my mind ever since I started noticing she seemed off...it was just so sporadic, it was hard to tell. Since she has just recently been moved to town, and my other dog didn't come with us, I wasn't sure if she was just missing her old stomping grounds:)

Glad she's better. It pays to be observant.

Antibiotics don't change the color of the pee. Another drug that is used along with abx in people is an antiseptic that helps with the bladder spasms and pain before the abx have time to start working. They are the ones that change the color.

Heh... ahh.... All I remember is the blue... And that it was pretty funny when we put the leftover pills in the punch at a college party, without telling anyone. :)

Glad that it should be treatable with the bladder meds. :) Please keep us posted. I hope she gets better.
