There's a horse at the barn who is going off to training. He's 7 and is a total knucklehead, but is friendly. Very head shy. His owner never shows any sort of good attention to him. He's just the horse that is supposed to show and be great, and is he stunning and would be great at it! But, she never shows any affection towards him and because he's pretty much untrained, she seems like she hates him. I absolutely adore him. He'll rest his head right in my arms, give me kisses, etc. She can't ride him because he bucks, but she'll get right off, and when they lunge and work, there's no praise or anything, just cracking of the longe whip and some yelling, even when he's doing it right. I see so much potential in him and I would KILL to own a horse of his quality and personality, but she doesn't see any good in him. Is it just me or is this wrong? I won't name any names or give pictures, I'm just venting from frustration.
I can understand how you feel. I bet most, if not all, of us have been around a horse that we saw more in, and liked better, than the horse's owner did. I guess it falls into the "life's not always fair" pile. I hope things work out for this one.

Yeah. I just hope he ends up showing at some point in his life, because he sure is an eye catcher. Sometimes when I'm there I'll play with him and let him put his head out his stall door. I'll give him tons of treats too. He's going off to training soon and I'll miss his spunky butt =[

Aw, that's a tough situation. I was in one similar at another barn. Hope you feel better after venting a little - maybe you could talk to the owner about working with this horse? I don't know what she is like but you never know.

Believe it or not I can sympathize with you about the horse, but I have to also say from an owner’s view point, stay out of it. Stop with the treats and the petting. I know you like him and maybe even “see” more in him than the owner, but he is not yours. The owner may not be appreciative of your (although good) intentions with her horse.

Yeah. Well, he's leaving soon and as soon as the snow melts my horse is coming home. I just hope everything turns out okay.
