Hi Driftin--yeah, all DRoP names! Though some of my gals have guy names--didn't know about that whole "wait for the wings" thing! I found that all the popular names were taken, but now I use either a weyr or a name with something else--one of my reds is "Brown Canth," and I have an "Ista Blue" and "Ista Sky," and a "Green Path." My white is "Benden Ruth." I might start in on whoever "of" insert weyr name.

ETA--very cool naming site, Driftin! Others might want to check it out.

I use several different places to get names. Some of mine are from a different Nationality - Am Indian, Polish, Finnish, MOST are Grey Elven, and a few other Elven dialects tossed in.

Just a thought - Could everyone put a link to their scroll in their siggy. Then we can go to the scroll and do the clicks. Much easier. ;)

How do you trade? I actually have all of those and don't have any silvers. I do have a female split (is that the two headed one?) but I like her! So I can't help you but I'm curious!

One way to get the sex that you want is to get abandoned eggs, if they have parents, check them--the egg will usually be male if the father is the egg's color, and female if the mother is the eggs's color. You have to wait half a day or whatever to abandon wild eggs, but abandoned eggs can be checked then immediately abandoned again for someone else to adopt if it won't be the sex that you want.

I'm almost 100% certain that my new blue egg will be the female that I want because the father is black and the mother is blue. There's no way to tell with the red egg--no parents listed. That's why I think it would have been cool for the breeding colors to come from the 4 grandparents instead 2 parents--you'd get some surprises. Maybe they really will change it some day.

I don't think that is an ironclad rule, just a very, very good possibility! I'm clicking...

Clicks only count once per egg, I think--so if we've ever clicked on your egg, our click will count as a view only on a hatchling. Still--getting the views up is as important as the clicks! I try for over 1000 views (and over 2000 if possible), between 300 and 400 unique views, and 20 or more clicks. So far I've hatched everything with 90% Baywind Farm forum folks--I posted my eggs a couple of times elsewhere, but only on other horse sites, not on any of the high-traffic egg sites. No matter how many clicks and views you have, they won't hatch or mature before the countdown reaches 3.49 days.

O.K...I've researched this way too deeply, haven't I? Arrow, where are you boy, time for a ride!

Exactly. If you have NOT click a certain egg before it increases the Unique View and Clicks #. There is a ratio of 15 views to 1 uv. . But you need to be careful. You can give a egg softshell sickness or a hatchling sickness by over clicking.

If I get a new egg, I only let 'locals' (horse friends) know. That way it gets it's initial clicks and views. Once it gets to 5 days left to mature, then I post them on 5 different Fan Sites aka hatcheries. This way, they will definitely grow up in time with enough clicks and views. :cool: 2 are in my siggy.

I have links to the Hatcheries I use at my site. But if you got to the DC Forum, you can go to Fansites, and you will find a whole slew of them. I really like the ones I use, which is why I listed them. ;)

One thing that I'm really bummed about is that I bred dragons twice--kept one, and abandoned both from the second--and I think out of the four, only the one I kept is going to make it to adulthood. If that kind of thing keeps up, I think I'll lose interest faster than I might otherwise. It's kind of sad to breed and see them adopted by folks who are curious but ultimately decide not to go forward with it. What's been your experience Cat and Driftin and other breeders?

As far as breeding? Well I could go and look at my records (yes I have a whole 4 pg spreadsheet for my dragons), and see what has been happening.

I have a lot of refusals, not interested, and the eggs that I have bred, several have died, but some are adults. I guess it really depends on who gets them and how serious they are about it. lol

I just checked in on my split egg, and the person that got it, not sure they are going to get it raised. But that is just how it goes. Sort of a bummer. But it is only pixels after all. LOL

If you go to the Dragon Cave Fansite (blue button) in my siggy, there is an er there. Post it there, and it will hatch in no time. that is where I put my short timers.

She is an Alt Black. The result of careful breeding. And tough to breed. It is one of the rares. She is a cross between a black and a silver.

Just to let you know - the generally hatch AT 3.49 days. That is considered healthy. No worries. And then the go to adult at 3.49 days also. But they still have to have a certain amount of clicks and views. And they all have different c/v ratios. so one never knows. But don't worry, they are fine.

Name them whatever you want. Mine all come from a dragon sci-fi series--the Dragon Riders of Pern.

Make up your own from whatever, or try this website (courtesy of Driftin): http://www.polenth.com/fun/dragon.cgi

If the name's taken, the site will say the ink disappeared, try again.

I suggest waiting until your hatchlings have wings (about 3/4 of the way to maturing, it'll tell you), before naming your hatchling--then you have a gender.

It depends, not before 4.5 days, usually, but it could be sooner. You don't have many views and unique views, though, so it may take longer. To hatch, I try for 20 clicks, 200 unique views, and 1000 views. To become an adult, I try for 20-40 clicks, 200-400 unique views, and 2000-4000 views.

If you get too many too fast, your page will tell you the egg has a soft shell--then you go into actions and choose hide, unhide it in about a day. Hatchlings can get sick, too--then you hide them same as eggs.

Every time a person clicks on this page, you get one view for all your eggs and hatchlings that appear here. If the person has never seen your dragons before, it's also a unique view. If they click on your dragons, it's a click. Only one click counts per person from egg to adult, but the same folks came give you many views just by looking at threads that you post in.

For most of them, I don't think it matters. If it sounds female to you, use it for girls and vice versa. I got overconfident about the gender of some of mine, and made mistakes before I knew about wings...so I have a number with the wrong gender names! Oh well, they're virtual dragons, after all.:)

I want my own dragons!! I registered a while ago. Every time I try to log in and then go click on an egg, it tells me "You must be logged in, in order to take eggs. Would you like to register now?"!!! So I went back to try and register and it says the username or e-mail is already taken proving that I'm already registered. It's done this at least 3 times.

Yes. Each color has a different description. Red is "this egg is warm" etc. I'd list them, but some folks like to be surprised! Other than weather, and Christmas, and "alts"--I've counted 18 kinds at this point (paper, gold, and silver being rare, the other 15 being fairly easy to get).

Gold and silver--almost impossible to get. Silver description--eggs has a beautiful grow (not the green glow of blacks!) and it's a silver egg. Gold--reflective, almost shiny look. I've tried so hard to get one, and I just don't click fast enough. Each only shows up once or twice an hour.

What I was asking about the egg color, does it mean you'll get a specific type of dragon? So with a purple egg will it be just one type of dragon or will could it end up a water dragon, a green dragon etc...

Purple eggs = purple dragons every time.

They've talked about new dragons, but now I'm reading that they're adding features instead--no new dragons. I'm ok since I just started, but I bet some others are getting restless...I hope they have new ones to add before the end of the year--need some surprises!

If you have either four hatchlings or four eggs at one time, it won't let you take any more until you go back to 3 or fewer. It is fun, they are pretty, and I think it will be fun to breed them.

Good morning, I picked up a few new ones over the weekend. Did kind of a rescue mission. I now have a pink a red and a vine hatchling all due to grow up soon, plus I got lucky and some how got my hands on a silver and a gold egg due to hatch soon. :D

I'll be glad to give away some silver eggs, but it'll take a week to grow, you can only breed once every seven days, and you might not get any eggs, or if you do, no silver eggs. Driftin gave me an egg, and I'm glad to pass them on to others, but it takes time. It's a slow game, isn't it? But that's what makes it fun, I guess!

It is infinitely easier to get clicks done with a link to the scroll. If you put it in your signature, then it can be clicked, and everything that needs clicks gets them all at one time, in stead of having to click each one.

Each item will receive only 1 UV from each IP. But you can continue to get views on them. Individual Clicks can be done once a day.

The other benefit to posting a link to your scroll is we can see your dragons. ;)

You find a img you want to use, upload it to your image host (I use pb) then you use this code -

Insert your pic hereto make that code work remove the / between url and = should look like url=. I had to insert those so that the code would come up.

I edited the pic by adding the words - 'click my dragon' to give direction. Did that in Picasa. Can be done in Paint also. I have GIMP as well for more complicated stuff.

Breeding can be frustrating. I've done it 5 times with 5 different pairs, 2 pairs bred, while 3 pairs showed no interest. Then you have to wait 7 days for those no interest dragons to rest up before you try them with someone else! I understand, too, that you can actually have them breed, but get no eggs.

valleyrider--when you are in the cave, it says there's a place with abandoned eggs, click on "take one of those"--it's in the third paragraph in the cave (if there are any, sometimes there aren't).

i have become so entranced with clicking and hatching and raising the babes...that i was in an er room just now and panicked when i found one egg at .34 and one at .17.....i wanted to hollar for someone to come and save those babies!!!!!!

They're cycling--at one time it was all pinks and purples.

I don't see much use in the mass breeding if there aren't some rares available. What's the point of pages and pages of green and pink eggs? Apparently the wild drops are put on hold to handle all those abandoned eggs, so there'll be a huge wild drop at some point. Not sure I'm in favor of mass breedings...seems a bit disruptive.

To put your scroll in your siggy -

Go into your control panel, go to your update/modify your signature and
use this -

Click My Dragons

Remove the / between the url and the = sign. should look like [url=http://

that will put it in your siggy and then people can just click it, and do your clicks all at one time.

O.K. Driftin--I made it work with text, but not a pic. I tried to use a pic of one of my dragons--uploaded it on my computer to the desktop, tried the 4 digit code with and without .gif. Didn't work--what am I doing wrong? Not sure how to create an image for this...

in doing that - You can have only 1 egg in your scroll anymore, as you can have only 2 images in the signature at a time.

I have all the scrolls clicked.

eta - if you go to the DCHF site, there is a thread on how to make your incubator also. It isn't self updating, but it does create a thing that shows all your dragons. You can update it once a day, though.

If you have 4 eggs or 4 hatchlings, you're stuck, otherwise you can add one here or there. I had 3 and 3 at one point--I could have gotten one more egg, then when I had 4 hatchlings, I would have had 3 eggs.

No--not as long as you have four of anything--hatchlings or eggs. The only exception is if you breed, one of your own eggs can become number 5. 2 hatchlings and 2 eggs--you can add 2 eggs. But 4 eggs or 4 hatchlings--you're stuck.
