Sorry if my updates on my horses are getting boring. I'm so excited though I have to tell someone!
I mentioned last time I took Sydney out of our yard for the first time. My son sat on her while I led them around.
Well, I decided she is ready for more. We walked and trotted about 3 miles. I know it's not much, but it was her first time. She did so wonderful! We had to sniff 2 big trashcans before passing them (yesterday was a trash day so they were on the road). She didn't spook, just slowed down and stopped to sniff. We couldn't run on the gravel roads, but there were few bare fields we could trot on. She really seemed to enjoy it.
Couple of times the hill was quite steep to get to the field from the road, she didn't even hesitate! I was so proud of her! Our dogs went with us and spooked few pheasants. She reacted so nice. I know it freaked her out some because her head popped up and she turned her ears towards them. She stopped for few seconds. I reassured her it's OK and she continued her walk. I got her to walk through a big puddle - it took her a little, she had to stick her mouth in the water and check if it's safe, but after few tries she walked right through!
I even managed to open and close our gate from her back!
I'm in such good mood. Few weeks back I could barely walk with her. After allowing my son take care of her she learned to be pushy and thought she can push me around too. The final straw was when I told her to back up and she almost knocked me over. After that I started working with her on daily basis and she is like a new horse.
