Hi I am fairly new here and have been looking around. What a lovely place to find. I did a Google search a few days ago on horse discussions and this site came up. We have goats, 14 of them...On billy (he is off to the auction this weekend as we do not want any more babies) and twelve Nannies and one baby....so far!!! we have eleven pregnant does! Uno is 6 weeks old and was a preemie, born one day after we purchased his mom and the others. I guess the trip was what brought on the birth, his little sister was still born. We did not think he would make it. I wrapped him in a towel and rubbed him all over then put him in a dog house with lots of hay for warmth and went to bed not expecting him to live. I was up really early the next day and low and behold he was still alive and moving about. He was very weak so I loaded him into the cat carrier and took him to the vet, a few shots, a bath and a blow dry transformed this dirty little billy goat into a white ball of fluff. The next day he was bouncing around the pen. He is a Boer goat and is very tame...see pictures! If you are wondering what Sunshine has to do with Uno..actually nothing except she is a horse and I happened to take pictures of her at the same time.:)

Oh and I'm glad you've found your way to our forum. We're a fairly new site as you may have figured out, all of us having broken away from another site just about a week ago. You may be one of the few here (so far) who are not from there. :) Something that makes you different. Welcome :)

He is absolutely adorable. I love Boers.:)
At the moment I have 16 goats, all breeds- 13 of them were bottle fed as kids, 11 of those were rescued so they wouldn't end up at auction being sold for meat. One was rescued from a not-so-great home life, and the other one was giving to me by a friend.
I'll have to dig around and find some pics.:)

We've had goats just as pets for a few years now, but we're down to just one now. (My husband's not so fond of them.) He doesn't have a pen, just wanders around our property like a dog. In fact, sometimes he goes in the kennel with the dogs. I think he likes their heated box. :) This is Domino.
