My boy, Sham lost a front today and luckily I found it...yah....80 acres and it's wet..U do the math!!:innocent:

So my question is...Can I use the same holes?? I've got spare nails and some tools.
Here's a picture of the shoe. The hoof itself looks good.http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p234/offgridgirl/shamrightshoe3.jpg

Thanks for any help!! My farrier is very sick and doesn't think he can get here til maybe next week-end...:(

Using the same nail holes is ideal when replacing a pulled shoe, but you do not want to nail this shoe back on as is. Looks like he stepped on it and bent it. (stepped on it at yellow arrow, bent at one or both red arrows the way the nails are bent indicate where and how) Looks like a rocker toe shoe, and you probably wont be able to get it straight without an anvil and probably a forge. (rockers are a ***** to get flat even hot... and I use lots and lots and lots of rocker toes)

if I have to use same nail holes, I go up a nail size as well, if possible.

Okay:) thanks guys. I kinda figured when I took the pictures and put the shoe on flat surface. Yes my horse has a very steep rocker toe,but it works for him.
I will have to bribe my farrier on bended knee to come. Maybe a good dinna and a 10 year scotch...strike that.... I will go for the 25 year. I have rounded the edges of the hoof in the mean time and can use my old mac boots to go for a ride today!!

Save the bended knee stuff for me babe... and I guess you can share the 25 yr old stuff.
Just stay away from my Cognac..

Actually this is likely to be my weekend chore. I imagine I'll be heating it up with a tourch, giving it a few taps to flatten it, and then hot touch it to the hoof. Then I an nail it on.

The Heavy Rocker really seems to help this guys gait as he's a foxtrotter.
