So who else loves dachshunds?

I wanted a dachshund ever since I read Pretzel as a kid, anyone remember that book? Kaylee makes me laugh every, single day. She's four years old. I leave my house mighty chilly to save on gas bills in the winter, but it's a little warmer than I want because she gets so cold--her chest and belly are almost bare. She has a nest of blankets to burrow into when I'm gone. She loves snow, but won't walk in any kind of ice or slush, she's just too close to the ground! Kaylee's a tweenie (between a mini and standard) and weighs about 13 pounds. I carry her up and down the stairs in my house to save my back (she's so conditioned, I don't think she'd go up or down in an emergency!), but she goes up and down other stairs out in the big, bad world.

I love Doxies. The ones I have met are all sooo sweet!! I have never had one though. They have some health issues that make me shy away from owning one, but if I could get one from a really good breeder I would.

You betcha!!!! I have 2 - one red long hair named Zoey. One smooth coat Black and Tan named Lucky. They are great little dogs :)

PS: There are pics of miss Zoey in this section under Princess Zoey :) I've got to get some of Lucky too..

Oh how cute! I do love them. My mother's neighbor has a long haired one, she's a tiny little girl and so sweet.

I never had one but a few friends of mine have and I always loved them.

When I was a kid we had Oscar - he was a tweenie too - although I have never heard that term before - it fits :)

aaaahhhhhhh when I was a kid growing up we had a couple, I love the little weiner dogs.

My little dog was a snake getter, I seen her tear into a snake and shake it into a million pieces.:)

That's useful--Kaylee's not quite so useful! When I have people over for dinner, she grabs napkins off their laps. She will also take any cardboard box that she finds and rip it to shreds. She uses her nose like a little hand--I've never had such a curious dog! She'll walk through a room and give a shove to EVERYTHING--everything has to be shoved to see if falls over or whatever.
