Well Midas and I survived our first dressage show together ( I have done this before he hasn't) and managed to do pretty well. It was a rainy nasty and yucky day but he loaded on the trailer beautifully. Had a couple of balks at very places and some dive bombing pigeons but luckily all went well in the end. Got a 59.5 and a 61.0 on the tests and for having him just for 2 months and with his never had any dressage/english training I am reasonably pleased. So onward and upward to bigger and better things next time.

Good show. However there's no way this was any "real" dressage show. No self respecting Drama Queen would risk getting their tack wet.

Oh hush Walkin. My first schooling show there was standing water in the arena. Mist or rain most of the day. The water running off the roof was so loud in the warmup arena the pony about went nuts.
BUT, my tack is about as cheap as you can get - I don't think I am skilled enough to justify a new saddle just yet, for now, the cheapo starter set will have to do.

Ah.. Walkin, you see that is the joy on synthetic saddles (Wintec) Just love the fact they can pretty much survive anything. Now my show clothes are another story.. LOTS o mud..

Thanks everyone for your encouragement. I've got to go into the office today (sigh) so no barn for me today but I'm hopeful about our future together.

Glad you did well! I definitely agree on the merits of good synthetic tack- especially under those conditions, lol!
