I saw this on another forum just recently and have been reading it. I don't show, so is the kind of stuff they report on normal?
Cause if it is, why isn't something being done? Some of it is down right horrible for the horses it seems.
Showing has changed since when I was a kid. It seems like it was more about fun and not so much about crazy competitive attitudes.

eh... some of it is obviously things we all know and/or speculate go on.. and of course something needs to be done. A lot of stud classes require a gum chain.. I do agree it is not needed. If you all remember we took Huey the percheron stud to an open dressage show with a rope halter.. he never misbehaved once..
But.. there are breeds that are, by nature, a little more difficult to deal with.
I really think gum chains should be used for breeding only, if they have to be used at all.. but that's just me.

Very interesting. I have a question, does cursing make them for more powerful and intelligent? More 'cool?' Honestly, I read through some of these blogs and it's curse word after another, I think it makes them sound like a sailor that is just bad mouthing someone for the heck of it. Maybe if they made a blog with constructive criticism instead of bashing pictures they don't know the whole story to there wouldn't be so many 'crappy riders' or 'crappy horses' in the world that they would have to rip apart.
ETA: I didn't read through the entire blog, I saw the rider part and read all the bashing and that was that for me. =P

I scanned down a few entries, it seems she has as much charm and restraint as the fugly blog does... perhaps she wants to be just like that.
Blech.
Are there show ring abuses and things people do to win that are not good, are against the rules or distasteful? yes.
Is creating a blog to cuss at and pick on people who may or may not ever be able to defend themselves also distasteful? I think so.
I'm not a fan of the "lets try to get pictures of other people doing bad things so we can rant about it for our own glory and amusement" trend.
If you see show abuses... report it. Most of that stuff is against the rules.
If you see something on the internet that is being done wrong, argue it there, to them, in plain view.
I certainly don't want to encourage the kind of sometimes really unfair bashing of people that happens on these kind of blogs... there's no accountability for knowing that what you see in the picture is an accurate representation of what was going on.
My two cents.

I just scrolled down to the bottom of her page and found this lovely lil' note:
How upset are people about this blog?
The answer would be *very*. Some ApHC members actually paid for an online search to find out where I live. How screwed up is that? And why did they think their little secret yahoo b****fest group would remain secret? There are always moles in amongst the rats.
So SJ, PS, GS, BA, GL, TS, JP, LT and the rest of you pathetic a****, I hope buyers will see your initials here and realize you are what is the worst about the horse industry. Cyberstalking someone because you're afraid they might reveal your dirty secrets is just so much bull****.
For the record I live in Virginia. I currently don't belong to any horse organizations because I want to speak with impunity. I have family members that are directors on the boards of horse associations, and I give them he** too.
How classy!
(Edited to block the curse words obviously, lol).

And yet, she encourages people to cyberstalk other people and take their pictures and bash them, without any real accountability for proving the allegations, and from the shelter of anonymity.
What's good for the goose....

I should have clarified better, getting around the Fugly-esque part of it, I was thinking more about the subjects, like the tail blocks and chain on the gums and the other stuff they are reported on. I was surprised to see that those things were allowed, especially when you look at the pictures.

No problem! I was skipping over all that because I was looking at the pictures and the discussion about what was going on. Then I started looking around the internet and saw that it really does happen.
Not unlike Fugly - they could do a better job educating on the horse show stuff without all the what they think is attention grabbing potty talk.

Tail blocks aren't allowed, I don't think. They should be reported to the show. Chain on the gums, I assume for halter... I don't know. It's not something that's done at Arab shows so I don't know a lot about it. Neither is... heck... an Arab without a tail flying high isn't really an Arab ;)

I have only seen a couple questionable situations in all of the shows I've gone to. Now I've only actually ridden in two shows, but I've gone to spectate or help out my trainers' team (before I was jumping much) over 35 times in the past year. And since I happen to have connections with a lot of people through people I know, I'm able to go in the practice areas and "behind the scenes".
The two things I saw were pretty minor. This sounds like someone crying out for attention by bashing someone they don't even know personally. Sure theres probably questionable or shameful things that happen at a few of the many shows around the nation, but it is not widespread. At least not in the more prominent shows in the Colorado circuits.

Our shows are nothing like that and anyone doing any of that would be thrown off the property. But we're just small local shows and we do still have fun, Cheval.

2)Baywind Farm Horse Forum (http://www.baywindfarm.com/forum/)
Let’s just say I could blog for a year and a day just on the crappy photos I saw posted here. The yellow lines of dooms would look like that big monkey drawing on the plateau in Peru. I could start my own version of the Nazca Lines all over their ass. Can these people not ride? Is it something in the water? It’s obvious the moderator has her panties in a twist because she’s never going to be anything but some backyard local show fixture, but seriously, when did hosting a forum mean that zero common sense was required? This forum alone would make me avoid buying anything from Baywind Farm. It's like if Exxon used pictures of the Exxon Valdez spewing oil in order to sell gas shares.
One thing I saw here that pissed me off was the mention of this blog, but given under another person’s name. Hey you stupid fucks, this is my blog, my name is all over it and I don’t appreciate you giving my hard work to someone else just because you’re too stupid or lazy to read the big words posted here. I think most of us here appreciate humor and sarcasm, but people trying to be funny and snarky, while just coming off lame and ignorant, give me a pain in my ass. Rating 4 ¾ Horse Apples
What crappy photos? And what, pray tell, are yellow lines of dooms? I've never seen any of either. You're just pissed off because we're still having fun with our horses, and you're too poisoned and bitter to do that any more.
BTW, I haven't been a fixture at any backyard local shows since high school, going on 25 years ago. We're just pleasure trail riders in this house, and loving horse owners of course, and have no aspirations to be anything else. I leave that to our younger members. :)
By the way... there is nothing available to BUY at Baywind Farm, Baywind Farm does not even exist (yet) except in a dream of mine, and on this forum. But thanks, if anyone even reads your blog, for sending people our way.... We'll take the fun ones. The ones that like and support other horse owners, not those who only know how to be negative and condescending.

Can these people not ride?
Like I said to allieO when I read this: You try riding Billy then, I give you all of a minute before he's pee'd off with them and has them on the floor (seriously, he doesn't tolerate other riders well:p). If they think they could ride him any better than me, do I really care? I am having fun with my horse. Sorry to rant, that bit I took really personally as I post photos here myself. I know alot of good riders on this forum! Whether we show or not.
Sorry to rant on, that just really annoyed me.

I don't care what they have to say about it. I can get trustworthy advice here (no matter what they say:doh:) I can talk to you about my problems, know you'll all try and help without patronizing me or telling me I am rubbish which many other forums would. I feel like I have some true friends on here, who'll be there through it all. And that alone is more important than anything else on a forum to me :)

There is nothing wrong with this forum. Not one thing.
It’s obvious the moderator has her panties in a twist because she’s never going to be anything but some backyard local show fixture, but seriously, when did hosting a forum mean that zero common sense was required?
*rolls eyes*
I hate, hate, HATE people like this. Saying people cannot ride?
WHO CARES IF THEY CAN'T. I think everyone on here are amazing riders, horsepeople, EVERYTHING.
You know what, this forum has given me so much support, friendship, advice, compliments.. I have never had ONE bit of negativity thrown at me. Its offered an open door when others have been slammed in my face, its given me friends and countless hours of laughs and smiles, everyone is so funny, caring and welcoming.
You know what, she can rag on about BWF as much as she LIKEs. Because we know its NOT true, and we're not going to let some stupid, sad loser sitting infront of a computer screen dishing out crap get in the way of what we do here. She can creep our photos like the biggest creep she is, laugh at the videos, but its not going to stop us posting them!!

I read her little blurb on baywind. I found it humorous. The WB's aren't here to sell anything and none of us are claiming to be Olympic level riders with 6 figure show horses. We are who we are and we all support each other in that. :)
I'd also like to say that I appreciate that we are all "real" people here. Most of us have formed friendships and communicate off the forum as well. I don't know if the other forums have much of that going on but I believe that is what makes this place special for us.

If she is, and this is her sister, I hope her daughter was adopted because it seems to me bitterness and anger is a very strong and dominate gene in their family. . . lol
And I don't think that blogger has ever spent a minute here. . she just wrote that based on crazy ladies idea and view of us.

WB's right. Let it go off your back like water off of a duck. This forum is great because of the people, but especially because of WB and WBoy. WB would never allow any of us to behave that way on the forum. We'd be shown the door in two seconds flat.
I don't know this person, but I feel for her. Putting down other people is just no way to go through life. I hope she can find more kindness in her heart. Granted, we all are appalled and lash out at some things such as cruelty we see, but picking on a person about his/her riding, being condescending (what's wrong with backyard shows anyway?), etc., is just mean-spirited.

"Tracy" is the lady that wrote that infamous [Deleted Essay] (http://www.baywindfarm.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8779&highlight=deleted+essay) who 'threatened' us with this publicity awhile ago. I guess there's some relation, or relationship, between the two... So it's a grudge thing.

Oh well, I guess if you can't laugh at the idiots on blogs that rant about something they know very little or nothing about, then who can you laugh at??? This sister of the psyco writer, is about as crazy as her sister!! You can tell the apple doesn't fall far from the tree in that family, I guess it just sucks to be that "crazy ladies" daughter....I too agree and hope she was adopted for her own sake.
The sad thing is, I liked that essay when I first read it, but now I think it's pretty dumb...I guess just seeing the reaction of the dude behind the words soured it for me. Oh well, there are plenty of good writers out there, but I guess miss "tracy" isn't one of them anymore (in my opinion anyways). Of course you are a great rider! It's all about the learning process anyways. It's not like an olympic dressage rider hasn't been caught in a moment of bad eq, or an olympic jumper caught with a horse refusing due to their own riding error. With horses and riding there is always more to learn no matter what level you are at. It's the people that are ignorant enough to believe that they have nothing left to learn when their horses are a mess that should be critisized for it, not those that strive to keep learning and accept that they still have a lot to improve on (which everyone can still improve).

You know what I find funny about this broad? On her blog in the top right corner there's this little blurb
"This blog is owned by T Jean Maus and cannot be reproduced without permission."
Why is she taking photo's from here then and reproducing them without the owners permission? I think I might just take things off that blog and post them around on the net anyways....what a joke, such a "me me me" mentality.
JTM - don't sweat her, WB is right. She's likely just jeleous that you have such a great bond with Billy then she could ever dream of having with her horses (that she probably doesn't even have anyways).

I don't care what she says about me, I can take that, yeah it's not what you want to hear 4 days before a dressage championship you're riding in but I can take it. But how dare she slate Billy, he has come so far. He was a bag of bones, he was a freakin' dying slaughter rescue and I am freakin' over the moon he is alive and can actually be ridden! Does this person not even care about a girls feelings? If she was so pee'd off about the poem problem her relative had and that was written for her daughter do they have no compassion to how someone else's young daughter might feel to be used as a: "can these people not ride at all" example.

Just laugh it off. The lady is crazy. She is a nothing. She is angry and bitter, at I am sure much more than anything having to do with the equine industry. Anyone with that much bitterness is leading a very pathetic existence. That type of anger and vitriol consumes the person carrying it. I feel sorry for her.
The fact that the two are sisters is very telling.
Half of the things she posts are flat out wrong. Her condenscending opinion is based on what? Nothing of significance, that is for sure. Who is she to critique anything? She doesn't post videos of her riding or her accomplishments. So she can draw lines on pictures she steals from other people, big deal. Obviously the hypocrisy of her stealing other's pictures is not lost on any rational and objective person. If you rt. click on her site you get a nice little pop up message in her usual tone about not stealing her pictures or words.
The funniest thing about it all is her angry demeanor and overall tone undermine anything worthwhile she might have to say. No serious horseperson cares. The trainers, breed associations, and people supporting the industry with their dollars (through showing and buying products) are never going to be influenced by a ranting lunatic whose entire platform is intellectual dishonest. Again she is a nothing.
I do find it strange that the tracy lady sits on the board of Appaloosa association. I wonder if they know she is running around "representing" them in the manner that she is?

Leave for a few hours and come back to this. Lady is a whack job and so is her sister, you know when all of ya'll went all ga-ga over the poem a while back I thought it was self serving tripe, and found it rather humorous that the author fought over it with such venom.
Now it appears it runs in the family, lol. No one I know takes her, or her blog, seriously they all say pretty much the same thing, and can find little if any proof that she shows at all, she is a foul mouthed whack job, and apparently its true. What I find totally frickin hilarious (and sad) is the fact that she goes on and on about people stealing frome her site (wait her sister too huh?), and steal JTM's pic. The paranoia these people display is astounding. who wants to steal a bunch of drivel filled with the "F" word, and a bunch of sappy sentiment that awww my daughter knows this and does that cuz she grew up with horses....So I am gonna say to her (and her sister) Hey lady who gives a rusty F(iretr)uck what you think.......Kevin

There's a lot of wisdom in this statement. I was at odds with a co-worker some years ago. This person had the ability to be really mean. After some time of trying keep up with this person going back and forth, I thought "Oh, no. I'm behaving in a way that I can't be proud of now." It was such an eye-opener and I just stopped. I just love how she used my edited picture that I made into JTM's siggy. What a freakin' jerk, blogs like this really get on my last nerve. People need to get off their high horses, I'm sorry do I see any pictures of herself riding. Who made her the god of riding, seriously NO ONE rides perfect a hundred percent of the time and ripping people to shreds accomplishes nothing.

Here's two more photos I found that need those yellow/blue lines. These people are from some school in Austria. They must not know much about riding because they can't even name the place properly. Instead of Vienna Riding School, they call it the Spanish Riding School.
Anywhoo, I think they must not be very good riders because we've got problems in these photos with leg position of the rider in one and the horse's headset in the other. I'm sure our blogging friend could teach them a thing or two about proper riding form.

Alright, so it's not like me to be sarcastic. But the fact is that you can't necessarily evaluate a rider's form or ability from a single snapshot. And secondly, even if you can, there isn't one single thing to be gained from being condescending and rude. It's absolutely uncalled for. Finally, we've seen JTM ride in videos and - completely objectively - she is a very good rider.
Thanks for making that post on her blog, WB. I just cannot abide someone being mean like that. There's no call for it.

FSA, you asked the very question I wanted an answer too. Who the hell does she think she is? Her and her sister are suited for each other and the apple must not have fallen far from the tree in that gene pool when it comes to "everything is about me, screw everyone else, as long as I get what I want...wa wa wa, they through sand in my face" type of attitudes.

Your photo was on a very public website.
So it's just fine and dandy to use someone else's photo without permission because it was on a public website, but it's outright theft to post an article that was found, unattributed, also on a public website. All righty then.

I don't know, I think there should be.
I've been seriously tempted to create one for the past two weeks.

Then again.. we need to remember what WBay said yesterday: we can't stoop to their obsimal levels. We need to try and be as mature as we can about the whole thing, what do we care what they think? All that said.. I'd love to see what you come up with, lol ;)

Go right ahead! :)
I personally would add it to my favourites and support it in anyway I can, I'd be more than happy to circulate the address round to my horsey friends so they don't come to the situations we are in - although, I think this lovely Tracy would circulate it pretty well herself personally posting it on her blog and slagging it off most likely!

Quotes from another forum...
her lines look like a challenged 1st graders while playing with Paint on the computer.(C) (C) You can't steal this Tracy or "T Jean Maus."
All I have to do is look at the lines she adds on photos to know she doesn't know shit. lol (C) You can't steal this either, sorry.
In reply to above quote;
ya I was thinking about the same thing. (C) Nope.. This is copyrighted too.

Well, I guess it's good to know maybe my lines aren't that awful - but who cares!? We're learning :)

Thanks JTM I'll think about it and let you know when it's up and running. :) I'll probably end up needing ideas on what to talk about.

All the posts are a year old now.
Seriously, is there a nice blog that reports on this kind of thing?
A blog that reports on other bloggers who are reporting what they see on forums! Who will report on them? Where will it end? ;)
Seriously... like all internet dramas this too will run it's course, and I'm happy with how everyone has handled it so far. I know we're on the high road here, and I hope we stay there. I love a good debate as much as anyone, and don't mind continued efforts to reason with these people - and efforts to have fun while doing it, for as long as our interest in it lasts.
But I want to stop short of becoming that which we detest. Since the beginning of this forum, I've been discouraging us from bashing other horsemen, either on ads, or in pictures, or in links to fugly or sites like this shame site, because I think the net effect of that mindset is poisonous to the mood and morale at a site. I've been around a lot of forums, and I've seen that over and over again. So I've been clear on that all along. People become consumed by the negativity that surrounds such a mindset, and I don't want that here. I want people to come here and find good friendship, good support, and yes, even good advice and correction when they need it.
SO... Have fun, but stay on the high road. In the end, we'll be better for it, and they, like they have already, will step in their own piles.

You are very right WBay, if Horserider does create her own blog site, I agree - everyone here at BWFF is on the high road and I think it is very important we don't sink to their levels.

BTW: I have added some Billy photos back to my account! :p Including a few ridden pictures too! :) The one she allready ripped apart is on there, I figured, she's done that allready - now the choice is between my 3'3" bareback photo - which I love no matter what anyone says/thinks and a fancy dress photo, which really, shouldn't be critiqueable!
ETA: shouldn't be critiqueable because everything of the costume was carefully tailored to be horse-friendly, and Billy had a long time to get used to it all, not that he had a problem with it in the first place - brilliant boy! :)

That's not what I meant. I meant a nice blog that reports on the horse industry. The abuse cases that come to light for example. I was thinking of doing some common mistakes in horse ads (without naming any names of course).

I think aslong as it doesn't become a blog slating horsepeople and their riding, it should be okay. The major thing I believe is not to stoop to their levels... I think no pictures should be used without personal permission and no names should be mentioned, unless ofcourse the person would like their name mentioned?
