View Full Version : Getting Upset

It seems that every single horse that I was looking into before Soco is now gone.. Which I guess isn't surprising, but..
The big one is Bugs, the blue roan POA that I looked into before Soco. I had a thread about him a while back. I was dieing to go see that pony, I had fallen head over heels for him, but the day before I went to go see him I went and saw Soco and just decided to buy him because I thought he was going to be the perfect horse and I had a lot of people pushing him on me..
So I just did a search for Bugs' registered name on google and it comes up to an ad that indicates he was bought from the owner I was going to buy him from, and then he was sold by that person.. that poor horse has been passed from home to home to home. I was talking to one of his owners way before Soco to get some info on him. He sounded so good. I am so disappointed. I wanted him so bad.
Then there's Shooter who I got jerked around on a lot. The lady finally decided that if I didn't want to buy him then she was just going to keep him because she loved him so much. Well, I contacted her tonight and she sold him.
Then there was Macho, an amazing Appaloosa that was started on barrels and a top notch trail horse and was only a hour away from me. He sold the day before I knew I'd have money for sure to buy him.
And now there's this lovely POA online that is absolutely EVERYTHING I want. My Mom and her boyfriend are even willing to put more money than I have into getting him. But it's still too much. This horse is 2800 and we're not made of money so they can't help much(I only have 1500) but it is nice of them to offer..
This is of course if these horses checked out okay when I went to look at them and after they had a vet check.
The horse I looked at again today was supposedly everything I wanted. He was supposedly a barrel/pole horse and trail horse, very nice, pretty. I got on him and he was NOTHING like they described.
Its only been a couple days but I have been looking for a while. Summer is coming and prices are going to increase, I dont think I'm going to be able to afford a horse that is in the criteria I'm looking for. This is my last chance to do fairs. Next year I am going to have a job and I highly, highly doubt I'll be able to take a couple weeks off for fairs.
Sorry for the rant. Between Melee, Soco, and all of these horses.. nothing seems to ever go right. i'm just getting down.

Alright now, FSA. Are we gonna have to get rough with you? :nono: You simply cannot keep on (or start.. not saying you've been doing this forever lol) with this negativity, missy!
Your horse IS out there. It will come at the right time, from the right place, at the right price.
Aside from that, I'm sorry that all your leads are falling through. I know it sucks.. makes it feel kinda hopeless. However, I'm an optimist so I just don't want to indulge your down mood. ;)
Did that help at all??

Just hang in there!! I looked for Sterling for a LONG time!! Almost purchased an Arabian mare that was much shorter and SLOW, but I had fallen in love with her, luckily, when I came back from vacation with my family. . . her owner had decided to keep her. The next horse I looked at was Sterling. She has been the single most important thing in my life (next to my kid & husband. . ). Hang in there!! It's not easy to keep looking but the right horse is out there!!!!

Dont worry, the right horse will come when the time is right. Quit being negative hon((HUGS))
It took me months to find Myst, and many many horses and hours on the road. We were not looking for a matching pair at all, but one day she just popped up.
Your horse will come when you least expect it.

FSA, please don't feel that way,, the right horse is out there.. Just like everyone said. I was horseless and looked for 1&1/2 yrs. when my QH died. Bought 2 horses I really should not have cause they needed too much work and training I just could not affored to give them.. A year later traded them both to my friend who gave me Bones and Cloud.. who are both much better horses for me and my Hubby.. So you see,, many of us have been where you are now.Hang in there.. You will find the horse that is right for you.

Hey FSA don't get down you'll find your dream horse, I know it! I bet he/she is out there waiting for you to come discover them right now :). Look I know how it feels to want something so bad and to be let down time and time agian.
When I wanted a barrel horse I already had 3 horses. But I met him down at an auction. He was our friends and he was all most sold but Eugine changed his mind and no-saled him. Call it luck, i dunno. I begged for a whole year and promised to do everything for my mom then finally she said ok we will take a look at him if Eugine still has him. It turns out he did, we bought him and he will be with me for the rest of his years. Trust me your horse will almost choose you.
We had instant chemistry when I met him at the auction. I had crazing dreams about gaming him before we even bought him. Our bond is strong and amazing, and the point is do not lose faith. I know your so much stronger than that! Keep going FSA you will find that horse! I have faith in you :) ((((HUGS!!))))

Man I'm so sorry. It's completely understandable to be bummed about all this. You just aren't having the best luck. :( Hang in there, though. You'll find the right horse. "The one" is out there somewhere for you, you just haven't met him/her yet. Every horse-girl has that special horse out there somewhere and I believe it's only a matter of time before the two get paired up. Maybe all this bad luck with these horses happened for a reason to help guide you to your one special horse. Just keep your chin up, you'll find each other soon enough. :)
Too bad you weren't closer. I'd sell you Whitney. ;) I bet you two would be a good match.... Of course she's been chillaxing in the pasture for the past 6ish months so she needs a refresher before she'll be ready for barrels again.

I will echo the others...take your time and wait and your horse will arrive. I know it is not easy...I kept a horse that I was afraid to ride for about 7 months after I decided to sell him...I needed to find him a good home...I loved him but was scared to death to ride him after he injured me twice and tossed me again after that.....I couldn't find anythng that I wished to purchase. The day I sold Dakota I saw an ad in my local tack store, went to see the mare, sat on her and said she is "the one". She is still with me today. Have patience, your time will come.

I'm so sorry Morgan. :( You've not been having an easy time, I can only imagine how frustrating this can all be but I worry about you getting so down on yourself. :( My thoughts lately have been you already have the right horse and that's why you're having such a hard time finding the another one. I'm sure you're like wtf lol but what I mean is maybe Prodigy is your dream barrel horse! Maybe put that $1500 (or some of it) towards training for him and you haven't found the horse because you're suppose to spend lots of time with Prod this summer...or maybe the right horse just hasn't come along yet. I say continue browsing for horses online, definitely but in the meantime, work with Prodigy all you can...that will keep your mind off of a new horse a little bit 'cause now you'll have something else to stress about (hehe :p) and Prodigy will progress in his training! I think if you see the horse online and get that gut feeling, it's most likely the one. I had that with Cloe, even though she was ugly as ever but I just knew...

Hang in there Morgan. Just like everyone else said, your horse is out there somewhere. And Cloe might be right maybe they're right under your nose. Keep browsing online, but keep your chin up. It's nice that your parents are willing to help you out financially a bit for another horse. The right horse is out there...somewhere!

I sent you a pm with some links to a couple of horses maybe worth looking at.
Keep your chin up and don't get to up set. The right horse is out there and you'll find them sooner or later when the time is right.

If Prodigy was older that's where all of my money would be going, but I want to wait until he's 2.5 before I consider sending him off for training.. I was thinking around 2, but the more I think about it, it seems pretty darn early for 30-60 days.
I was desperate enough to e-mail the latest person who sold Bugs.. Something about that horse I just loved from the start and I am really regretting not seeing him when I could have. The people that bought him are still making payments on him.. I guess I'll just keep a watch out and if he comes up again he comes up again..
I have even considered going to the New Holland Auction.. I know my Mom would take me there, but she is afraid of buying anything there with all of the drugging, no vet check, etc, which I completely understand. I have been frequently checking AC4H(Anyone in PA might know of them. Another chance for horses) and we were also considering going there this weekend but there's not much there I'm interested in, either.
Thanks for the words of encouragement, everyone.. they're greatly appreciated and needed.
Check this out. A good horse, and a good deed rolled into one.

There's a point in time when looking for a horse when you have to sit back and see just what you'll be getting yourself in to. You say that this summer is your last summer to game, so what happens after that? You bought another horse for a single summer's worth of gaming? I'm not saying it's a bad decision, but to me, it sounds like that you'd be better off saving the 1500 for Proddy's training and take time to try to make another one of your horses work as far as small gaming.
Just saying something from experience; I bought Cheyenne for showing and realized that I pretty much bought her for a single summer's worth of shows, that really wasn't that big anyways. I know I bought a green horse and all, but even with a well-trained horse, chances were that it would have been the same. Now it's coming closer to college and my final summer home will end in August. I honestly regret buying Cheyenne when I did, because I have no time for her training.
Maybe the fact that everything is falling through is a sign; spend time on the horses you already have.

I would not suggest the New Holland auction. Delta came from there, alot of good horses do but you just never know. People with alot of experience sometimes get fooled, I wouldn't do it unless I had a vet with me and I don't even know if they let you do vet checks, I'm not sure if they let you make deals before the horse gets auctioned or if you have to bid. I try not to ask too many ?'s I just play with the horses when they come from there and usually they are scared and need alot of love, I think Sue is there today. Your horse will come when you least expect it, don't get discouraged and end up in the same boat you were in before. Take your time.
The horse ads on Horsetopia etc. can say anything they want, they aren't always true. I've seen horses from horses shows on there, I know the horses, they're crazy and when they do the temperment thing they'll put them at a 1 or a 2 when they should be a 10. I know you were very honest when you were selling April but most people are not that honest. They'll tell you what you want to hear just to sell the horse. I wish you good luck, I hope you'll find just who you are looking for but take your time about it. Not that it's my business but I hate to see you get hurt again.

The one thing I keep thinking is if Bugs is being passed around, I'd be leary about something there. Temperment, lameness, something seems strange about that. Unless it's the market, I dunno. I'd be cautious about that though. Just my :2cents:
