View Full Version : Possible horse viewing, what do you think?

Possibly viewing a horse, he's 15.1hh, 15 years old and stocky.
"Sammy is a dead broke, professionally trained, responsive, and willing boy with a sweet disposition. Has limited experience in gymkhana, and turns and stops on a dime. Will walk, jog, lope or gallop: just ask once. No bucking, rearing or taking off. Excellent ground manners. Lead lines nicely with young children. Stands, ties and trailers well. Good for farrier. Very easy keeper. His young rider lost interest. Looking for a good home."
I know this is not a great pic but anything glaringly wrong with this horse that I am just not seeing? I would be using him as a confidence builder, not looking for anything to take to the Olympics here.:p

He's a handsome fellow. If he passed the vet check and all those things they said about him are true, I'd seriously consider buying him.
I don't know much about horses by looking at them. The only thing I can see is that I think he might be a bit "cresty", which means fat on the crest of his neck under the mane and is a sign of a horse being overweight. He looks a bit overweight to me, but I'm not good at judging that, either.

His Pasterns look off to me, but obviously this photo isn't a good one for judging that kind of thing! They just look REALLY thick! Especially that left rear. . could be nothing. He looks like a sweet boy.

Pasterns look swollen otherwise picture isn't adequate to really tell anything. I sure would not buy without a vet check or you might find yourself neck deep in a lot of vet bills.

He looks like a pleasant enough fella.....I don't see anything glaring wrong with him, but that is no my field. I would definitely take someone experienced with you and ride him several times before you buy. A vet check is alway a good investment to avoid heartbreak.

I like him! Hope it works out for you.
His pasterns don't look swollen - they look short & stocky due to his bone structure. I've known horses with pasterns like that which are sound. They aren't smooth rides because there is little to no shock-absorption, but still very sound. He looks to have a good stocky build. At 15 I would most definately suggest a vet-check, but if everything else is correct I bet that boy would be an amazing confidence builder.

Thanks everyone, have decided against getting another horse however. :( I wish I could but right now after discussing with my family, we can't. I have some health issues that need dealing with. :(
Sorry for wasting everyone's time. :o
Looking at a picture of a horse is never a waste of time. ;) Sorry to hear you can't get him right now, hope things work out for you.
