So my horse colicked today and I had to have the vet out to pump him with liquids, etc. Luckily I made it out there and wasn't busy. So now I have a vet bill I have to pay and now I will probably be constantly worried about my horse. The only thing that's changed is his feed. He was finally taken off of sweet feed and on to a no sugar or very low sugar feed this week. And the horses have been eating more of the spring grass. So if anyone is interested in a new semi qh saddle let me know because I need to pay off the bill. I am really stressed right now because my horse is my baby.

I'm very sorry. Vet bills are always expensive! I hope your horse recovers well. Be careful letting your horse on fresh spring grass. It's important that they work their way up to being on it full time. . Start with an hour a day, and work it up to longer. Your horse could founder otherwise. (Not sure how good your grass is, just a horse rule of thumb that you may already know. . .)

Well my horse is on 24/7 pasture. Not much I can do to keep him in. I had him at the same place for about 2 years now without any problems.

I'm sorry to hear that but I'm so glad he's alright.
I'd post your saddle under the Flea Market subforum (http://www.baywindfarm.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=10), TackTrader.com (http://tacktrader.com/), craigslist (http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites), eBay (http://www.ebay.com) and any equine classifieds site (they normally have a section for tack). Good luck selling. :)

Sorry to hear about your horse. Hopefully it wont happen again.
Did the grain change happen to quickly? That along with the fresh spring grass could of caused the issue.

Yes I asked the barn owner about the grain change and it happened about 3 days ago. But since the barn has many horses and no other horses showed any signs of colic the BO dismissed the thought that the colic was caused by changing to a different feed. I still think that caused the issue with the combo of the fresh grass.

I wouldn't dismiss it, you just never know which horses will be triggered by what. Sometimes we can point a finger at the cause, and sometimes we just can't.
I'm glad he pulled through with a little help, and hope it's the only issue he has this spring.
If your vet left a bill and time to pay it, I hope you can do that without selling something you really need.

I am glad your horse is okay now. I understand about the Vet bill though, they are tough to pay when you have an emergency. But what can you do, right?
Maybe you can try to work out some kind of payment plan with the Vets, that you can live with. I agree with WB and would like to say that our horses are all different. I never rush a change in feed with my Buck, who coliced 2 times in 3 months. I worry less about him now since we have him at home.
Good luck and try not to worry over it all too much!! (((hugs))).

ugh, colic. I'm glad that your horse pulled through it. Hopefully there aren't any more issues with it.

I personally think it was the change of feed. It doesn't matter that the other horses were OK.
I know I can eat the same food as my husband and son, and I'll be the only one to get sick because my stomach is weaker.
It happened few times that they were out of dog food I usually buy; got different brand and all the dogs would be OK but one. He would get diarrhea every time. And dogs are not as sensitive as horses.
I'm glad he pulled through though.
If I were you I would talk to the vet. Maybe you can work something up.
I had an emergency before and didn't have that kind of money - I split it in to 4 payments and gave him postdated checks. The vet was completely OK with it.
