Okay folks as I narrow eyedly got my coffee made this morning I realized how "disgusting" my coffee pot was! I sweart I clean it with soap & water often but geezzzz it has my pot all stained up!! It's one of those Hamilton Beachs that brew inside the pot (in a plastic pot). So here's my question.... HOW DO I GET THIS POT CLEANED? I've heard of white vinagar but not sure how to do it & what makes it so my coffee doesn't taste like white vinagar?? YUCK!

hm....i didn't see the thread but - soaking in hot water & soap for a day perhaps? I'm not a big coffee drinker myself, but I know Mom used the vinegar. I think she just put some in, ran it through, then ran regular water through it - about 3 times? Sorry, not much help...

Other ideas....
S.O.S. pad?
WD-40?
and...out...*shrugs*

50/50 white vinegar/water mix. Run a pot through, let it cool so you can handle it, scrub, then dump and refill with water- run another cycle. If the pot's really bad, run an extra vinegar /water cycle before rinsing.

Keep running cycles of water through at least 3 times- you can always taste test the water, he,he!

Hope that helped!

Only for one pot, silly! The good coffee flavor comes back. If you don't, it will clog up and die on you, and you will have no coffee!

Does it have an actual pot?

Yep vinegar works well, just run plain water through it for 2 cycles, you shouldn't have any vinegar taste. I never have.

I did get some new tips from "How Clean Is Your House".

If it is glass or glass insulated like a thermos, you can put salt and vinegar in it and let it soak and then rinse out. This also works great for vases or glass that have water stains. It really is amazing how quickly it works and how well. But I imagine you would need to rinse it out well.......not sure if you can do that with your "pot". Is it removable?

I have also heard that using a denture cleaning tablet will work.

I don't have the same coffee pot you do, but for mine I just dump a bit of the powdered dishing washing detergent (for the dishwasher) in, swish it around with a washcloth in the pot with it to clean the canister. Now to clean the "guts" of the machine, I use the white vinegar. The dishwashing powder (not liquid - doesn't work as well), does beautifully on all the parts that you can see. If you need to let it soak a bit and than swish some more. Rinse well and voila!

When I worked at wendy's years and years ago. We always used salt and ice in the pot. Swirled it around good and they sparkled. But they were glass.

Yeah, the salt/ice won't work for plastic. Another option for glass ones is to use a bit of uncooked rice and white vinegar. Just swish it around in the pot and then wash normally.

Unfortunately plastic really stains. I would try cleaning it with just a bit of soapy water and white vinegar. Then rinse well and run a couple of pots of plain hot water through it.
