I have to write a research paper for my senior final in English.
8-10 pages=EW.
However, I have to do it and I want to do it on horses
So any ideas that has anything to do with horses???
It would be easier to do something medical but if not thats fine too:)
I was thinking about:
-Theraputic riding
-EIA (equine infectious anemia)
-Effects of different types of wormers

And if all else fails probably something on the evo-devo theory
(nature vs nurture concerning homosexuality)

BUT I would like it to be on horses if at all possible.
So come one, come all and lend me your ideas:D

Does it have to be a pro/con paper or can it be about anything?

My junior research paper had to be a pro/con thing....senior year was supposed to be the same way, but my teacher hated us and made us write 8-10 pages on a poet. If I go the rest of my life without hearing anything about Dylan Thomas, I'd be a happy girl. LOL.

You could always write about nutrition and ration balancers.....there's a ton of info in the horsekeeping section on here....LOL.....

I like the wormers idea. So many out there and you can write a bit about each one.
How worms can lead to colic, signs of worms, ect.

You could do something on conformation. Include things such as "ideal" conformation explaining how it affects the way a horse moves and how certain disciplines look for slightly different (or totaly different) builds. Explain what type of physical problems can occur in a horse with poor conformation, etc.

I did a 10 page senior paper on therapeutic riding for mentally and physically challenged children and it was a royal pain in my rear. It's almost impossible to find non-internet based articles and almost every last one of them are on a therapeutic riding facility's website (so they're obvious biased, 'cause most want to make money and keep their horses fed ;)). I wouldn't recommend that one, the research was the absolute worst part. Granted, there seems to be more research on the effects of therapeutic riding with mentally and physically handicapped adults - they use it in the treatment of mild schitzophrenia (which I think is just about the coolest thing I've ever heard :D).

Conformation would be difficult to describe in a paper, especially to a non-horsey teacher. You could to an argument research topic about the pros and cons of various training techniques. They're fairly easy to research on - especially with horse magazines.

I really like the wormer idea - that would be something that anyone who has owned an animal can understand the necessity of and the base idea of. :) You could research the history of a breed.

You could research horse racing. It's history, habits, etc. I did a persuasive essay against horse racing.

I could go on forever and ever about different methods of training (i.e. natural horsemanship...D=). I could also do alot on different breeds of horses or a paper on all the different disciplines.

ill trade you! I have seven papers due in the next two weeks, most of them 10-12 pages. Therapeutic Riding has a lot of information. I wrote a paper on it in high school and it was interesting to learn about
